Renowned Harvard University law professor Alan Dershowitz has defended Sands China against the five-year long lawsuit filed by former CEO Steve Jacobs against Sands China, Las Vegas Sands and boss Sheldon Adelson for wrongful termination.
Lawyers argued their case before the Nevada Supreme Court in Carson City on Tuesday September 1st.
Dershowitz along with Sands China lawyer Steve Morris asked the Supreme Court to override the Clark County District Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez’ ruling in regard to jurisdiction as well as sanctions, arguing that the company is registered in Macau, putting it outside the jurisdiction of a southern Nevada courtroom.
“The case should proceed against Mr. Adelson, against LVS,” Dershowitz told the high court. “They have plenty of defendants to sue, but this court should rule that the case should be dismissed against the Macau defendant,” referring to subsidiary Sands China.
