Dafabet ink Sunderland shirt sponsorship; Unibet ink Caribbean cricket deal

Online betting operator Dafabet has increased its UK football visibility by inking a sponsorship with English Premier League side Sunderland AFC.

The deal will see Dafabet’s logo adorning Sunderland’s home and away jerseys starting with the 2015-16 EPL season. Dafabet recently inked a similar shirt deal with Football League Championship side Blackburn Rovers and has an international betting partnership with the EPL’s Everton.

Dafabet’s head of sports marketing and sponsorship John Cruces acknowledged that the company had been “very proactive in the last few months increasing our presence in football.” While Dafabet holds a license issued by the UK Gambling Commission, its chief audience is football-mad punters in Asian markets, and Cruces said “being on the front of a Premier League club shirt was vital for our global presence.”

Colossus came, he saw, he conquered. But apparently, he’s spreading his prize pool pretty thin, and not all the event’s players are thrilled with this news. Macau casino revenue slump celebrates one-year anniversary

Macau casinos celebrated a grim milestone in May as gaming revenue fell for the 12th consecutive month.

According to the city’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), casino gaming revenue fell 37.1% last month to MOP 20.35b (US $2.55b), roughly in line with analysts’ expectations. This marks one full year since Macau posted a revenue gain, underscoring the brutal effectiveness of Beijing’s clampdown on corruption among public officials.

Highlighting how bad things have become in Macau, reaction to May’s decline has largely been relief that it wasn’t worse. Casino concessionaires and their investors continue to hope that the now somewhat stable rate of decline means that, while a recovery is not expected anytime soon, perhaps some kind of bottom has been reached.

On an individual basis, Sands China held the biggest slice of May’s gaming revenue market share at 26.5%, up 2.3% from April. SJM Holdings ranked second with 21.8%, while the other four operators finished as follows: Galaxy Entertainment Group (18.5%), Melco Crown Entertainment (14.3%), Wynn Macau (9.9%) and MGM China (9%).

Playtech agrees to acquire trading group Plus500 for £460m

Online gambling tech provider Playtech has agreed to acquire London-listed financial trading and spread betting operator Plus500 for approximately £460m.

The deal builds on Playtech’s recent acquisition of a 91% stake in TradeFX, the online contracts-for-difference (CFD) and binary options trading platform provider earlier this year.

Playtech will acquire the entire issued ordinary share capital of the Israel-based Plus500 for 400p per share through Playtech subsidiary Brighttech Investments.

The price tag values the troubled Plus500 significantly below what it was worth prior to its recent difficulties, which have seen the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) scrutinize the systems it has in place to prevent money laundering.

Chinese fugitive travels in and out of the Philippines using CEZA visa

Chinese fugitive Bo Wang has been using Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) visa to travel in and out of the Philippines since 2009.

Chinese national Bo Wang was arrested by immigration authorities as he arrived from Malaysia on February 5 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. He was found to possess a cancelled passport and a part the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID) blacklist.

Chinese Consul Fu Yunfei wrote a letter, dated Feb. 15, 2015, informing BID that Wang is wanted for heading an “illegal online-gambling operation.”

A summary of deportation order was issued by the Immigration Board on March 5 along with associate commissioners Abdullah Mangotara and Gilbert Repizo. However a release order was issued on May 21st, reportedly after a private meeting where the associate commissioners was able to raise funds to pay lawmakers to vote for the Philippine president’ Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL)— a drafted law intended to establish the Bangsamoro political entity in the Philippines.

IRS wants more tax money from casino gamblers

The public and the industry have until June 2 to respond on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) proposal to reduce the casino reporting threshold to $600.

The IRS has proposed the $600 threshold in March to bring slot winnings in line with the reporting requirements of business and trade revenue and because technological advances have made tracking winnings easier.

Currently, the reporting threshold for slots is $1,200 and $1500 for Keno winnings, which took effect in 1977. Some critics of the idea have questioned why the level isn’t being adjusted to 2015 dollars, which would reset the amount to nearly $4,700.

Once you win more than the threshold amount, you will be forced to stop playing and the venues— video lottery terminals (VLT) true odds video poker, slots at racetrack venues, bingo, or Indian casinos— are responsible for making the player fills out an IRS tax form.
