Mondogoal crosses Atlantic, debuts cash DFS games in Italy

Daily fantasy sports platform developer Mondogoal has finally made its debut in the Italian market.

The Boston-based daily fantasy sports company teamed up with Italian online sports betting platform Intralot to introduce their football games in the European country.

In a statement, Mondogoal founder and CEO Shergul Arshad said the company’s entry into Italy will ensure that “Italian users will now have an enhanced gaming experience similar to our users in the UK and the United States.”

“Intralot is the first of our deals with online sports betting sites overseas. Unlike other who talk about integration, we have been heads down executing on this integration. As a Serie A fan and fan of Fantasy Soccer for 25 years, I hope many legions of fantasy soccer fans in Italy can now share in the vision and play [for] fun and for cash,” Arshad said.

Judge sets trial date for Seminole lawsuit against Florida

The odds of the Seminole Tribe keeping blackjack at its casinos get even better.

U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle scheduled a trial date for the Seminole Tribe’s lawsuit against the state of Florida in July. The two-week trial will determine whether or not the Seminoles can continue to have blackjack tables at their casinos.

Last week, Hinkle rejected Florida AG Pam Bondi’s bid to dismiss the Seminole’s case.

“The contention is plainly wrong,” Hinkle wrote in his five-page order. “Any reading of the act that would suggest a state has no duty to negotiate at that time would make no sense — it would mean that when a state’s first compact with a tribe ended, the state would be relieved of any obligation to negotiate a new or extended compact.”

Morgan Stanley: fantasy sports could be a key to TABCORP turnaround

Tabcorp’s earnings are under threat since UK bookmaker giants joined the market, but Morgan Stanley might have a solution for that.

Morgan Stanley has cut Tabcorp’s earnings forecast due increasing pressure from foreign-backed online bookmakers such as Paddy Power, William Hill, Bet 365 and Ladbrokes.

The investment bank estimates that the Australian wagering operator’s share of online wagering turnover to fall 23% in 2018, down from 30% in 2010. It also expects earnings per share of 23¢, 26¢ and 28¢ in the 2016-18 financial years respectively compared with 24¢, 27¢ and 30¢ previously.

However, Morgan Stanley thinks that Tabcorp is in a best position to slow the market share loss by venturing into the growing market of fantasy sports.

Taiwan takes down two more election gambling rings ahead of polls

Two more high stakes gambling operations were busted in Taiwan several days ahead of the country’s presidential polls.

On Wednesday, police raided two underground gambling rings in New Taipei City and Taichung, local media reported. Authorities claimed the gambling operations “took in large wagers on the outcome of the presidential election.”

Among those arrested were 39-year-old Wang Cheng-lung, the alleged proprietor of the New Taipei City operation, and two of his employees. According to Taipei Times, Wang launched gambling website King Sports Net in May last year, and has reportedly raked in more than NT$100 million (US$2.96 million) from bets on sports matches.

New Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office spokesperson Feng Cheng told the news outlet that Wang “created betting pools on the presidential election’s outcome, including bids on the final vote tally and the total difference between the presidential candidates.”
