The US subsidiary of UK pool betting operator Sportech PLC is celebrating after officially receiving its New Jersey license.
On Tuesday, Sportech announced that its Sportech Racing subsidiary had received a Casino Service Industry Enterprise License from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE). The license supersedes the transactional waiver that Sportech Racing has been operating under for the past four-plus years. Sportech claims this represents “among the first, if not the first, full gaming-related license to be issued in New Jersey to a European-owned company.”
Sportech Racing processes wagers for the state’s racetracks, off-track betting facilities and the state’s only advance deposit wagering online race betting site. Sportech’s data and operations center in Mt. Laurel handles over $11b in annual wagering from racing punters in the US, Canada, the Caribbean and South America. Sportech is also operating online casino gambling for Atlantic City’s Resorts Casino Hotel as part of the SNG Interactive joint venture with NYX Gaming Group.
Sportech CEO Ian Penrose celebrated receiving the DGE’s “gold standard” approval, calling it “an endorsement of our standards of operations and the qualifications of our directors and senior employees.”
