NFL Wildcard Weekend – Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Both the Cincinnati Bengals and the Pittsburgh Steelers are dealing with key injuries coming into this playoff game. Since the Bengal starting quarterback Andy Dalton has been sidelined due to injury, his backup A.J. McCarron has a winning record of 2 and 1 completing 66 percent (76 of 115) of his passes for 832 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions. Facing the Steelers, he completed 22 of 33 passes for 280 yards, 2 TDs and 2 picks. If Pittsburgh running back DeAngelo Williams can’t return due to injury than that will make the Steelers a one-demission offense.

Let The People of Northern Ireland Play Poker

Northern Ireland is one of the very few countries in Europe that has laws in place that ban the organisation and participation of live poker games, an outdated law that needs to change.

It’s time for someone to give the sleeping lawmakers in Northern Ireland a nudge with a sledgehammer.

Christmas is a time for many things: family, turkey, and heading down to your local for the annual Christmas poker tournament. It’s tradition. It’s a great laugh. There is no harm done.

And yet, we play with the money hidden from view just in case we are raided by police because it’s illegal for us to be playing poker for cash in a pub without a license.

Nevada casino revenue up, losses down; record low gaming share of Strip revenue

Nevada casinos reported a 3% rise in revenue during their most recent fiscal year but still reported a collective loss of nearly two-thirds of a billion dollars.

Figures released on Thursday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board show the state’s 271 casinos that grossed $1m or more in the 12 months ending June 30, 2015 earned combined revenue (gaming, rooms, food, beverage, etc.) of $24.6b while recording a net loss of $661.8m.

The revenue total is higher than FY14’s revenue of $23.9b and the net loss is lower than FY14’s $743.7m. However, while it’s getting closer, the state’s gaming industry has yet to recover its pre-recession peak revenue total of $25b in 2007.

Of FY15’s revenue, just $10.6b (43.2%) came from gaming, with $5.8b of that coming from casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. The statewide gaming revenue total is down 0.2% from FY14 while Strip gaming is down 2.5%.

No jackpot winner; Powerball climbs to $675-M Satu…

UNDATED Nobody won the $524-million Powerball jackpot Wednesday night, so the top prize for Saturday will start at $675-million — the largest in U-S lottery history. One ticket in Wisconsin won the third prize of $50,000 by matching all the numbers but a regular one — and another state player won $150,000 the same way but with the Power Play multiplier of three.
