No dice for state lottery proposal in Mississippi, senator says

Plans to create a state lottery in Mississippi will likely end up dead on arrival in the state Senate.

On Tuesday, the Mississippi House voted 83-37 in favor of including lottery in the Senate Bill 2541, which was originally aimed at setting rules for online fantasy sports contests.

Rep. Tommy Reynolds, D-Charleston, was responsible for adding lottery in the proposed legislation. in the amendment, Reynolds proposed to authorize the Mississippi Gaming Commission “to establish a lottery in Mississippi,” with half of the proceeds going to public education needs of the state and the other half for county and city road improvements.

Reynolds was quoted by the Sun Herald admitting that he’s not a fan of gambling, but if it’s going to happen anyway, then all of the proceeds should go to the state’s coffers.

Becky’s Affiliated: Top 5 Sessions to Attend at iGaming North America 2016

The sixth annual iGaming North America conference is upon us and this unique educational event brings together land based and online gambling businesses interested in the regulated US and Canadian markets.  One of the strongest features, if not the strongest feature of iGaming North America is the sessions, a shift from ICE Totally Gaming and the LAC, two events with a heavy emphasis on expo floor action.

iGaming North America’s organizers have extensive experience in the industry and a deep knowledge of what topics and speakers will provide value to their audience.  Over the three days iGaming North America takes place, the program will address topics such as payment issues, the state of RAWA, eSports, DFS, appealing to millenials, maintaining player ecosystems, advocacy and activism.

There are plenty of delegates who attend every session at iGaming North America, but for those of you who have other commitments, I’d like to recommend five sessions that should not be missed.  For anyone who cannot make the trip to Vegas, in addition to our daily highlight videos, three out of these five panels will be live-streamed on CalvinAyre.com and will be worth the watch.
