Malta’s gaming regulator will roll out a specific skill game licence

Malta – August 2016 – Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) recently announced that daily fantasy sports is exempt from the requirement of a gambling licence. The first step towards the skill-based licensing framework will likely take Malta to the centre stage of DFS action in Europe, and will attract an influx of new operators to this tiny Mediterranean island.

In its press release, MGA stated that in view of the element of skill and knowledge involved in fantasy sports, such an activity should be differentiated from games of chance in terms of licensing and regulation.

The Malta Gaming Authority is set to become the first European country to create a skill game license for daily fantasy sports operators, and the Missouri Gaming Commission amend laws to protect people under 18 from participating in daily fantasy sports wagering.

I was taking my son home earlier today when he told me that he had a winner takes all £5 daily fantasy sports (DFS) bet with a group of mates.

“That’s gambling,” said my wife.

“It’s not,” said my son. “It’s a game of skill.

A familiar cast returns to deliver the action including sideline reporter Kara Scott, the commentary team of Lon McEachern and Norman Chad, and pro analysis from good friends Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak.

London Councils Team Up To Curb Illegal Street Gambling on Westminster Bridge

Lambeth and Westminster Councils are joining forces with the local police constabulary in a bid to curb anti-social behaviour and criminal activity associated with illegal street gambling on Westminster Bridge.

West Ham Extend Partnership With Betway; Sheffield United Agree Terms With Betsafe

West Ham has extended their shirt sponsorship deal with Betway, and Sheffield United take on Betsafe as their new in-stadium sponsor.

West Ham has extended their sponsorship deal with the online gambling company Betway. The pair originally shook hands on a £6m per year three-year deal back in 2015, but are so happy with each other’s company they have extended the contract until 2020 and forked out an additional £4m per year.

The Betway logo will continue to adorn the main strip, training ground kit, and anywhere you like around the London Stadium. The deal is the seventh most lucrative in the Premier League. West Ham finished seventh last season, their best performance in the club’s history.

West Ham Vice-Chairman, Karren Brady, told the press that the Claret & Blue brand ‘has grown faster than any other major league club in the Premier League.’ The recent move to the London Stadium is a big reason why.
