PAGCOR reveals tough new ‘offshore’ online gambling licensing plans

The Philippines’ gaming regulator has released more details on its plan to license ‘offshore’ online gambling operators, and operators probably aren’t going to like them.

In August, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR) announced that it planned to begin licensing online gambling operators. On Wednesday, PAGCOR announced that it would soon start accepting letters of intent from companies looking to acquire an ‘offshore’ online casino or sports betting license.

Under PAGCOR’s plan, companies looking to become an officially licensed Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) must strictly observe existing rules on not accepting Philippine customers, be they at home or abroad. Foreign nationals visiting the Philippines are also out of bounds.

But the most problematic item on the prohibited list is accepting wagers from “individuals in countries which have laws prohibiting participation of their citizens in online gaming activities.” Which pretty much rules out 99% of Asia. Thud.

The Professional eSports Association & National Association of Collegiate eSports Open For Business

Seven of the top eSports teams in North America agree to form the Professional eSports Association, and the National Association of Collegiate eSports assumes responsibility for youngsters looking to get involved in eSports while studying hard on proper subjects.

I get the feeling that the early years of the eSports business is a little like the Oklahoma Land Rush of 1889. There is no prim and pretty purpose to the way things are developing. Instead, it has this every man or woman for themselves feel to it.

In the latest turn of events, seven North American eSports teams have agreed to form a professional league. It will start in January 2017, and will consist of Team Solomid, Cloud9, Team Liquid, Counter Logic Gaming, Immortals, NRG eSports and compLexity.

It’s called the Professional eSports Association (PEA), and its mission is to put the power into the hands of the franchise owners and players to create the most compelling league and action for the fans.

Week 4 EPL Review: Everton Retain Unbeaten Start With Victory Over Sunderland

Week 4 of the English Premier League action comes to a halt with Everton beating Sunderland 3-0 win at the Stadium of Light.

I predicted that Ronald Koeman would leave Southampton to join a bigger club towards the end of last season. Everton wasn’t a club in that ballpark. It was a move that baffled me. I looked at the two squads and the momentum Koeman had at St Mary’s, coupled with the mess at Goodison Park, and it didn’t make sense.

Southampton is a club that has achieved notoriety for selling their star players, but Everton plays that game as well – think Wayne Rooney and John Stones. Southampton has finished 14th, 8th, 7th, and 6th in previous Premier League campaigns. Likewise, Everton had finished 6th, 5th, 11th, and 11th. One side was on the up; the other was stuttering to a halt. Koeman should have stayed and waited for a bigger job.

And yet, with four games played in the latest Premier League campaign, Everton remain one of only three sides yet to taste defeat after delivering a one, two three to the chin of Sunderland in 11 knockout minutes at the Stadium of Light.

KamaGames Portfolio Certified As Fair By iTech Labs

Dublin, Ireland – September, 14th 2016 – Global developers and publishers of social casino games for mobile platforms the KamaGames® Group, today announced that after several months of independent testing by leading test laboratory iTech Labs, their Random Number Generator (RNG) has been formally certified as fair in line with the UK Gambling Commission standards.

This certification puts KamaGames in line with many of the world’s leading real money operators and puts them at the forefront of the social casino industry.

KamaGames’ RNG is a propritery solution which is at the heart of all of their social casion titles. According to iTech Labs certification process, the numbers generated by this RNG, which are in fact the cards being dealt to the players at the tables, have passed Marsaglia’s “diehard” tests for statistical randomness.

During the extensive certification process, iTech Labs evaluated card shuffling without a joker (single deck, two decks, four decks, six decks and eight decks) and also scaling for roulette games. The shuffling/scaling tests were conducted at scale to give the calculations sufficient statistical power which resulted in iTech Labs certifying that card and number sequences across the entire KamaGames portfolio are “unpredictable, non-repeatable and uniformly distributed”.

Atlantic City’s millennial visitors spend two-thirds less on gambling than over-35’s

A new study of Atlantic City casino visitors shows that millennials spend two-thirds less money on gambling than older visitors.

New research by the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming at Stockton University shows that millennials – defined as people between 21 and 35 years of age – spend just 8.5% of their total AC trip budget on gambling, versus 23.5% by visitors over 35.

The study involved over 500 individuals from 22 states, with around 350 of those surveyed meeting the millennial definition. Of the total number surveyed, 352 had visited AC in the past 12 months.

Around 21% of millennials said gambling was an important part of their visit, half the figure cited by the over-35s. On a chart of 28 activities, millennials ranked gambling 21st in importance while non-millennials ranked gambling in seventh place.

Pennsylvania’s SugarHouse Casino launch New Jersey online gambling site

The operators of Pennsylvania’s SugarHouse Casino have launched a New Jersey online gambling site.

Last Wednesday, the SugarHouse Online Casino blog announced (with remarkably little fanfare) that it had begun soft play/beta testing of its new Playsugarhouse.com real-money online gambling site. The testing concluded on Friday and the site began around-the-clock real money play on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The Playsugarhouse site is operating under New Jersey Internet Gaming Permit NJIGP# 15-002, which was issued to the Golden Nugget Atlantic City casino. In addition to its own sites, the Golden Nugget also hosts Betfair’s New Jersey site Betfaircasino.com.

Playsugarhouse, which is also available via mobile apps for both Android and iOS, is a casino-only site offering slots and table games from companies such as Aristocrat, Bally, High 5 Games, IGT, NYX, Shufflemaster and WMS.
