Goa casino operators anxiously watch post-election party moves

Casinos in the Indian state of Goa will have to wait a little longer to learn if the government will maintain their operating licenses.

On Saturday, the government revealed the results of February’s election results, which showed the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) falling from 21 seats to just 13 in the 40-member Assembly. Meanwhile, the opposition Congress party increased its presence to 17 seats, eight more than it won in the 2012 campaign.

With neither party winning an outright majority, a frantic race began to see whether BJP or Congress would be able to muster the support of a sufficient number of the smaller parties’ elected members to achieve the necessary 21-seat majority to form the next government.

The remaining 10 Assembly seats are divided as follows: the Goa Forward Party and the Maharashtravadi Gomantak Party (MGP) won three seats apiece, while three independent candidates won single seats and the final seat is held by the Nationalist Congress Party.

US policy change may affect Pennsylvania online gambling push

The fate of internet gambling legalization in Pennsylvania now lies in the hands of no less than U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Sessions earlier said that he will take a close look at the Department of Justice (DOJ) opinion which paved the way for the states of New Jersey, Delaware, and Nevada to legalize internet gambling.

According to The Times-Tribune report, state lawmakers are trying to factor in the implications of the possible decision of Sessions to reverse the 2011 federal legal opinion that opened the door for states to embrace online gambling.

“Everyone is sort of waiting to hear what they (Justice) have to say,” said Rep. Aaron Kaufer, R-120, Kingston, a House panel member. “The concern is this could all be for naught for all we know.”

EPL Week 28 Review: The Tigers eat the Swans; Bomo beat Bilic, and more

Week 28 of the Premier League sees Hull beat Swansea in a relegation six-pointer, Bournemouth continues to stop the slide into the abyss with a win over West Ham, and Romelu Lukaku sets a personal best with a goal at home against West Brom.

The FA Cup has eaten into this weekend’s Premier League fixture list with the ferocity of a factory farm eating into the Ozone layer. There were only four matches to choose from, and we will begin with the relegation battle between Hull and Swansea.

Both clubs were dead certs for relegation with Mike Phelan and Bob Bradley at the reins, but have a different outlook since they dropped the guillotine on the heads of both men and brought in Marco Silva and Paul Clement.

It was a crucial match, and with Hull having beaten Swansea twice before this season, both by a two-goal margin and with home advantage, the bookie’s money was on a home win. Hull didn’t disappoint.

There was a time when the TV was my best mate.

I would fall through the front door after a day’s graft, grab a bottle of wine, and veg out in front of the thing as it made me laugh and cry in equal measure.

And then I sold it on Gumtree for £10.

About Betsoft Gaming:

How iGaming Professionals can plan for digital transformation and emerging technology

Formulating a plan for monitoring and embracing emerging technology is more important in today’s fast-paced world than ever.  The iGaming industry prides itself on its cutting-edge technology, yet somehow we are lacking in innovation and staying on top of disruption such as Bitcoin and Blockchain.

In partnership with Clarion, GamCrowd’s Chris North and Ian Hogg have hand-crafted a two-day course designed to educate iGaming professionals in emerging technologies and how to proactively take advantage of the opportunities they bring.  To find out more about this Digital Transformation Academy taking place in Cambridge, UK on May 10-11, I spoke with North, an individual full of passion for disruptive technology touching the iGaming industry.

Becky Liggero: Thank you for joining me today, Chris.  Lets start with how the content covered during this academy will differ from what we are exposed to during emerging technology sessions at industry conferences?

Chris North: Businesses who are operate on legacy tech have some major challenges on their hands. I like to use the analogy of a Jumbo Jet which is in midflight making lots of money for the business but needs to be completely overhauled whilst still in the air, to me this illustrates the scale of the challenge businesses face.

iGNA Awards to celebrate excellence and innovation at GiGse

The closing date for entries to the iGaming North America Awards, (iGNA) which, for the first time, are being held as part of GiGse, close on 17 March. Celebrating their third anniversary, the Awards, which comprise seven categories, recognise excellence and innovation displayed by gaming organisations operating in the unique and challenging North American market. Judging is a transparent three step process involving over 20 leading figures occupying senior positions in North American iGaming. Nominations should be made at http://www.gigse.com/igna-awards-2017.

Explaining the importance of the awards and the benefits of them now being part of the GiGse experience, founder, Alex Pratt, said: “The North American market has some unique characteristics, and as such, we felt the US facing industry warranted a dedicated awards event of its own. iGNA swims against the tide, in that it isn’t a top heavy awards event where the focus is on revenue generation for the organiser, instead, we have made attendance free to GiGse delegates and focused only on those areas that are key to the market.”

He added: “For the first time since 2012 there is only one dedicated North American iGaming event in the Spring and the fact that the awards will be presented at an exclusive C-Level cocktail reception, has added to the cachet and prestige of what , after all, is a celebration of the industry in North America.”

Winners of the 2016 iGNA Awards were: Resorts iGaming (Best Marketing Campaign); Golden Nugget Online Casino (Operator of the Year);  MyVegas (Best Social Gaming Operator); Sightline Payments (Best Payments System); Star Fantasy Leagues (Best Fantasy Sports Provider); NYX Gaming Group (Best Platform Supplier) and Spin Games/Respin LLC (Best Innovation in North American iGaming).
