Clarion launch ICE 2018 creative

Passport to Paradice is the theme created by the marketing team at Clarion Gaming in support of ICE 2018 (6-8 February, ExCeL London, UK). The Paradice creative will spearhead another worldwide campaign which will be deployed through digital, print and social media channels reaching an audience of close to 80,000 targets in 200 international jurisdictions.

Dan Stone, Senior Marketing Manager responsible for ICE, said: “We’ve worked closely with our agency to continue the high standards of creativity associated with each of our ICE campaigns and which have seen the world’s biggest gaming expo either win or be nominated for best marketing programme in the Association of Exhibition Organisers Excellence Awards.

“Our objective is to bring levels of creativity and quality of thinking more commonly found in consumer marketing to the gaming industry. We have moved from our Shakespeare theme in support of ICE 2017 to the epic poem by John Milton to capture the imagination of gaming professionals throughout the world. The creative plays with the Paradice spelling and we have created a series of surreal icons to capture the vast nature of the gaming landscape that visitors will experience courtesy of the 500+ exhibitors who will be presenting their latest innovations and services at ICE 2018. Paradise is the term for a place of timeless harmony and translates across French, Latin, Greek and Hebrew.”

Clarion Gaming is reporting a big response to its competition run across social media offering stakeholders the opportunity to win a seven night holiday for two at the luxurious Paradise Island in the Bahamas. To enter the competition, which closes 31 October, 2017, stakeholders have to message their idea of paradise to the ICE Totally Gaming Twitter account @Talking_ICE with the hashtag #myparadise on Twitter.

partypoker LIVE removes PokerStars from the CIS seat of power

partypoker LIVE shows they have the organisational nous and player pulling power to replace PokerStars as the most successful live tournament operator in Europe after hosting the largest festival in CIS history.

When Mike Sexton left his cushy number at the World Poker Tour (WPT) to help his beloved partypoker become the number one live tournament operator in the world, I thought all the gambling had messed with his mind.

Neither the WPT or the World Series of Poker (WSOP) had been able to replicate their North American success in other parts of the world, leaving the European Poker Tour (EPT) to rise from the bubbles in John Duthie’s bath tub to become the leading light in European live poker.

If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best, and partypoker LIVE has wasted no time getting into the face of the PokerStars machine. The EPT brand name may be dead, but the PokerStars Championship contains the EPT’s soul.

The Telegraph launches Fresh8 with record-breaking knock-out acquisition numbers

The Telegraph Group has announced a partnership with Fresh8 Gaming, the sports betting advertising and marketing specialist. The deal will enable The Telegraph to use Fresh8’s technology to offer personalised and contextual adverts to their sports betting partners.

The Telegraph saw record acquisition results last week for the Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor bout in Las Vegas. The Telegraph was one of the best-performing affiliate partners across the industry for the fight, yielding five-figure registrations, and market-leading conversion to first time deposits.

This deal sees the launch of a native advertising product with betting brands across all sports sections of one of the UK’s biggest online portals. Fresh8’s publisher toolkit allows The Telegraph to continue to be at the forefront of advertising technology, stepping away from ad-serving static gambling banners in traditional ad slots, which were unable to leverage the rich and targeted content offered.

Fresh8’s publisher toolkit automatically matches operator bets and offers to editorial content in both native and ad-served environments. The platform leverages editorial content and real time customer data to deliver the most effective conversion message in premium locations on publisher pages. This technology removes the requirement for asset production for operators and ensures that the advertiser gets the most value out of any campaign, while

Total Performance Data CEO Will Duff Gordon on how racing must embrace technology and data if it is to unlock its full revenue potential

We are at the beginning of a horse racing data revolution that has the potential to place the sport back at the heart of the sportsbook offering after years of relative decline.

Historically, racing was always the jewel in the crown for operators, but a lack of innovation has stunted growth and seen it lose market share, particularly to football and tennis.

UK watchdog spanks four online operators for affiliate advertorial

The UK-facing online gambling affiliate industry is facing a fresh assault after the local advertising watchdog upheld complaints against four operators’ affiliate-created promotional content.

On Wednesday, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) upheld complaints against marketing content created by an affiliate working for 888 Holdings, Ladbrokes, Sky Betting & Gaming and Casumo.

The four operators were slammed for the same piece of advertorial, which appeared on 24hournews.co and casinohacks.co between March and June of this year. The advertorial, which the complainants felt “had the appearance of an editorial article,” detailed the travails of a man named ‘William’ who was £130k in debt due to his wife’s cancer-related medical bills.

Lo and behold, while taking a break in the hospital lobby to update friends and family about his wife’s condition, an admittedly depressed ‘William’ stumbled across ads for various gambling websites on his mobile, but almost ignored the sites until he noticed their various promotional offers, which he felt were “too hard to pass up.”

Is USC getting too much love from oddsmakers heading into week 3?

The USC Trojans are 1-1 against the spread through their first two games, averaging more than 45 points en route to a 2-0 record straight up and the No. 4 ranking in the country. But after covering just one of two games so far – both at home – should the Trojans be favored by more than two TDs against the Texas Longhorns on Saturday?

Odds courtesy of OddsShark.com

USC is listed as 15.5-point chalk versus Texas, leaving bettors to wonder if there is more value on the home favorite or road underdog again.

While the Trojans turned in an impressive performance in a 42-24 rout of the Stanford Cardinal last week, they also were tied 21-21 with the Western Michigan Broncos going into the fourth quarter of their season-opening matchup. USC failed to cover against Western Michigan, and this may be too many points to give a Longhorns team that will likely look to run the ball and control the clock in hopes of pulling off the upset.

Michigan takes another run at online gambling legislation

Michigan is making another run at passing online gambling legislation, but whether this latest bill will make any further progress than previous efforts remains unclear.

Tuesday saw the publication of HB 4926, brought to you by Rep. Brandt Iden (pictured), with the support of two other Republican members of the state House of Representatives and a lone Democrat. The bill is set to be discussed on Wednesday at 10:30am local time by the House Regulatory Reform Committee, on which Iden sits as chairman.

Michigan has previously relied on state Senator Mike Kowall to carry its online gambling hopes and dreams, but while Kowall’s efforts managed to get two Senate committee hearings – including the latest this March – no further forward progress was ever made. So why should HB 4926 be any different?

Michigan’s gaming landscape is complicated by its mix of both commercial and tribal casino operators, and Kowall’s bills required tribes to waive their sovereign immunity and pay the stipulated fees and taxes if they wanted to participate in intrastate online gambling.
