Scaling out will be key to 2018; William Hill as example

We are now in the final stages of an economic boom that began in March 2009. When it is over, and it will be eventually, stocks will fall together, but fiscally responsible companies less so than leveraged ones. For today we will use the example of William Hill, an increasingly attractive income investment benefiting greatly from the boom, but first a word on strategy in general.

All equity markets are now in parabolic mode from a decade of record-breaking money printing across the Earth. Futures in the US are up again this morning. It’s seemingly relentless. For the next 3 to 6 months, it should be easy to make money in most sectors, gaming included.

The most challenging part of 2018 will be selling when you’re euphoric about your gains and every instinct tells you to just keep holding and counting your paper profits. This is not a wonderful idea, as ideas go. My suggestion for this year, and it won’t be easy, speaking for myself mostly: Set three or four hard, realistic numbers in three to four stages for scaling out of stocks, and stick to them. After you sell, don’t look back to see how much profit you missed, because you will miss and it won’t be worth counting how much. You’ll just be tempted to go right back in as danger increases.

For example, for any particular stock you own, scale out of, say, 20% when you reach 20% profit, 30% when you reach 30% profit, and then 60% when you reach 60% profit or some such similar calculation. Pick a theoretical high for each and scale out as you get near it, basically. Committing to holding a small percentage come what may is fine. Just make sure that you’ll be emotionally OK holding whatever percentage you commit to no matter the losses. In other words, make sure you’re not risking all or even most of your gains.

Developed by Just For The Win (JFTW) and available exclusively to Microgaming, Deco Diamonds is a five reel, nine payline classic online slot.

The game features a re-spin mode triggered by two, three or four Deco Diamonds wild symbols. During which the wilds lock in place and re-spins are awarded until no further Deco Diamonds symbols appear or the bonus wheel is launched.

When players get three or more Deco Diamond symbols, a three-tiered bonus wheel is triggered with a 1,000x bet maximum win. Three Deco Diamonds symbols award the silver level, four symbols award the gold level and finally five symbols award the diamond level. Once the wheel stops, the prize on the indicated tile is awarded. When the wheel stops on the level up tile, players progress to the next level.

Belgium’s restrictive new online gambling rules close to reality

Belgium’s restrictive new online gambling rules appear set to become law as the European Commission’s standstill period comes to a close.

Last October, Belgian legislators approved plans to impose significant new curbs on online gambling operators, including a near-total ban on gambling advertising and a virtual prohibition of affiliate marketing activity.

The legislation’s mandatory three-month standstill period is set to expire on Thursday (18). The new rules (viewable in full here) will take effect eight months after the government publishes the decree in the Belgian Official Gazette.

Under the new regime, online casino operators will essentially be limited to promoting their wares via their own websites or via “personalized advertising,” which the regulator reportedly intends as a reference to email and SMS promos to existing customers. Belgian-facing affiliates view these restrictions as an effective death sentence for their sector.

Meg-Star junket preps two new Macau VIP casino clubs

Macau casino junket operator Meg-Star International appears intent on living up to its mega-name via the opening of two additional VIP gaming clubs.

On Monday, GGRAsia reported that Meg-Star reps had confirmed preparations for “two new openings” of VIP gaming clubs in the world’s top casino hub, despite suggestions that the VIP market is showing signs of slowdown following a sustained period of growth.

One of these new VIP clubs will set up shop in MGM Cotai, MGM China’s new property that is scheduled to open its doors on January 29. MGM had previously suggested that its new venue would open without any junket-led VIP operations.

Meg-Star’s other VIP club will be located at Melco Resorts & Entertainment’s City of Dreams Macau. There is no target date for either club’s opening.

Maria Lampropulos Takes Down 2018 PCA Main Event for $1.1M, Christopher Kruk Wins $25K High Roller

Less than a year removed from her first career seven-figure score, Maria Lampropulos, an Argentinian pro, took down the 2018 PCA Main Event for nearly $1.1 million at the Atlantis […]

PCA Reports: Maria Lampropulos wins the PCA main event

Maria Lampropulos closes the curtain of the 2018 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure by beating the 582-player field in the $10,300 Main Event to bank her second seven-figure score in the past ten months.

There is a hole in the tapestry of poker. It used to have the name of Vanessa Selbst woven into it. Poker got tough; Selbst couldn’t sell it, hence the hole. Who will fill it? Maria Lampropulos has a needle in her hand.

The 36-year-old from Argentina has taken down the 582-player $10,300 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) Main Event. She is the first female player to do so and banked $1,081,100 and a $30,000 Platinum Pass in the process.

The line between luminous light and luck is as thin as lint, but those with a penchant for bathing in glory made it to the very end of this thing. No disrespect to Daniel Coupal, but after the Canadian hit the rail Lampropulos had to face three of the most celebrated poker players in the world. Had Gandalf the Grey been a poker player (Middle Earth banned him because of his magic) he would have called her a fool and told her to run. But he doesn’t exist. Fortunately, Shawn Buchanan simplified things by kissing a grenade and hurling it on the table.

Spain clears decks for poker liquidity sharing with France

Spain and France have taken another step toward shared online poker liquidity following the official publication of Spain’s new regulations.

On Monday, Spain’s Official State Gazette published the resolution signed on December 29 by Spanish gaming regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) authorizing online poker liquidity sharing between state-licensed operators in Spain, France, Italy and Portugal.

The resolution notes that the new inter-jurisdictional agreement shall enter into force on the day after its publication, which would make Tuesday, January 16 the official D-Day of European online poker pool-sharing, although the actual process isn’t likely to begin immediately due to the need to obtain technical approvals.

The Stars Group’s Spanish-licensed PokerStars.es will undoubtedly be the first operator to dive into this pool, with PokerStars.fr having already been issued a cross-border license from French regulator ARJEL.

ICE London 2018 edition to be the biggest on record

The world’s leading innovators and gaming elites will gather once again in London for the 2018 edition of ICE London to discuss the latest gambling trends in different jurisdictions around the world.

In an anticipation to the surge of attendees this year, event organizers will be taking up some 43,500sqm of space in ExCeL London during-three day conference, which will kick off on February 5.

Kate Chambers, managing director of the Gaming Division at Clarion Events, said last year’s ICE posted a record breaking attendance of 30,213, as shown in the ticket and registration data.

The development, which has been driven by demand for stand space by both existing and new exhibitors, represents the sixth consecutive year of growth for the London event, according to Chambers.
