Casino king Steve Wynn denies sexually harassing female staff

Steve Wynn, boss of casino giant Wynn Resorts, has been hit with allegations of decades-long sexual harassment by multiple female staff members.

On Friday, Wynn Resorts’ stock shed nearly 10% of its value after the Wall Street Journal’s Alexandra Berzon reported on allegations detailing decades worth of sexual abuse by Steve Wynn against female staff at Wynn’s Las Vegas properties.

The allegations include a 2005 account by a manicurist at the Wynn Las Vegas resort who claims Steve forced her to have sex on a massage table he kept in his personal office. The manicurist ultimately reached a $7.5m settlement with Wynn over the incident.

A former massage therapist at the Wynn Las Vegas spa claimed Steve routinely exposed himself to her during massages, at one point ordering her to massage his penis to climax by saying “Don’t’ ignore it anymore.”

Roger Ver launches Bitcoin Cash Games online casino

Longtime cryptocurrency advocate Roger Ver has expanded his online gambling site to accept Bitcoin Cash (BCH) wagering.

Last September, Ver’s cryptocurrency portal Bitcoin.com launched Bitcoin Games, an online casino platform that utilized the old legacy Segwit Bitcoin (BTC) token. The platform has now branched out with a BCH-compatible variation, Bitcoin Cash Games, offering the same online casino experience but with vastly lower fees.

As Ver’s official announcement of the launch stressed, “the BCH network and currency has proven itself to be reliable while also offering transaction fees so cheap ($0.01 or less) they are practically non-existent.”

Bitcoin Cash Games’ offering includes provably fair video poker, keno, craps, roulette, dice, slots and blackjack games, each providing a 99% expected return. There’s also a referral program that allows players to earn up to 25% of the site’s house edge by enlisting new players.

Iowa daily fantasy sports bill sails through House subcommittee

A bill seeking to regulate daily fantasy sports (DFS) in Iowa has cleared the first hurdle set by a five-member House subcommittee.

Radio Iowa reported that the bill passed the scrutiny of the Iowa House subcommittee on Wednesday, amid an intense lobbying from the conservative United Methodist Church.

The latest bill was similar to the other DFS measures that were filed and died in the state legislature.

In a nutshell, the new bill will allow Iowa’s casinos to take wagers on fantasy sports teams, but DFS operators like FanDuel and DraftKings will have to secure a state license to operate, pay the taxes, and allow state regulators to do their oversight job.

Svenska Spel CEO Lennart Käll resigns ahead of market revamp

Sweden’s state-run (for the moment) gambling monopoly Svenska Spel is looking for a new leader after its longtime CEO announced his resignation.

On Friday, Svenska Spel chairman Erik Strand announced that CEO Lennart Käll had informed the company that he plans to step down from his chief executive role by the end of this summer. Strand said the hunt for Käll’s successor is already underway and a candidate would be identified by the spring.

Käll assumed the CEO’s role in 2011, and said Friday that he was proud of what he and his team had managed to accomplish over the past seven years. Käll said the company was “well prepared and look[ing] forward to competing on equal terms” with the internationally licensed online gambling operators who serve (and dominate) the Swedish market.

Sweden is in the home stretch of revamping its gambling market, which will finally allow international sites to apply for local licenses starting sometime this summer, with the official relaunch of the new liberalized market scheduled for January 1, 2019.

Grammys so white no more: A 2018 betting odds guide

For more than a decade, the Grammys has been widely criticized for their lack of diversity and inclusion in the major awards categories.

The last time that a non-white male artist won a best album Grammy was in 1999 when Lauryn Hill took the coveted award for her debut solo album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”.

Back then, Hill was up against four female artists in the category: “The Globe Sessions” by Sheryl Crow, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” by Lauryn Hill, “Ray of Light” by Madonna, “Come on Over” by Shania Twain and “Version 2.0” by the band Garbage, led by Shirley Manson.

Everything went back to regular programming after that year, with white male artists continuing to dominate the category–until 2017, when many artists finally said enough is enough after Adele’s “25” won against Beyonce’s “Lemonade” in the best album category.

The 888Poker roar: Poker Central relationships expands into the third year

888Poker continue to become the leading face of online poker in America after agreeing to extend their contract with Poker Central for a third successive year.

At 62-years-old, Stephen wanted more than his restaurant offered. The responsibility felt as heavy as a sack of coal. The only time he put the bag down was at the poker table. The tail would wag, and he would rub his damp nose into his two cards desperate not to flick them into the muck.

One day, during a serving of egg on toast, a businessman asked Stephen if he could buy him out. There was a number on a napkin. Stephen picked it up, read it, shook the man’s hand, and wheels were set in motion.

What would Stephen do without his heavy sack of coal?

The online casino industry has been in somewhat of a frenzy in recent months following a number of severe warnings issued by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority. The warnings came after the CMA launched an investigation into “whether online gambling firms are treating their customers fairly.”

The probe followed concerns raised by the Gambling Commission about “misleading promotions and unfair terms being used by firms to block players’ payouts.” License conditions require “all licensed gambling operators to include in their advertisements any significant limitations relating to promotions to avoid misleading consumers.” However, the exact opposite was found to be the case, and as Sarah Harrison Gambling Commission Chief Executive noted: “I continue to have concerns that many of these [terms and conditions] appear to bamboozle rather than help the customer.”
