Humaniq celebrates success: First working hybrid Blockchain and 100,000-strong community

Reaching a technological and a community-building milestone gives Humaniq reason to be confident for future expansion, as it finds way to cut transaction costs, and hundred thousandth community member joins.

London, March 20, 2018 – Humaniq has achieved the first working hybrid Blockchain with the 2.0 version of its app, to retain the benefits of the Ethereum main-net while expanding faster.

Humaniq today announces that the recently launched  2.0 version of app is delivered on a unique Hybrid Blockchain. In a technological milestone, it is the first project with a working hybrid Blockchain that is not in prototype or beta-testing stage. Humaniq has successfully solved the problem of scaling ERC20 projects. The new, improved app sits on the Ethereum Blockchain with the unique combination of sidechain solutions in individual African countries, such as Uganda, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Rwanda.

Before, all Humaniq coin transactions were made on the Ethereum main-net. However, the security of a transaction in the main Ethereum network is provided at a cost of about $84.85 at the current rate according to figures that apply until 15th March, 2018. This is a barrier to the App’s expansion and to emerging economies entering the 21st Century economy. This is why the company started work on a new architecture that would both allow for HMQ tokens to remain open and accessible on the Ethereum main-net, and also provide an inexpensive method to secure the network – vital to allow  its users to make small transactions with transaction fees close to zero.

Japan’s Komeito eyes replicating casino fees in Singapore

The coalition partner of Japan’s ruling political group Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is pushing for a ¥8,000 ($76) admission fee for its residents when the country opens its first casinos.

Jiji Press reported that Komeito has proposed to impose a mandatory admission fee that will be at par with Singapore’s casinos, which currently charges an admission fee of SGD100 (US$76) for those who are visiting the casinos.

Komeito’s proposal was higher than the ¥2,000 ($18.84) admission fee that the government suggested in February.

Aside from the proposed admission fee, the group has also proposed that Japan should limit casino licenses to at least two to three locations. Their suggestion was contrary to LDP’s proposal to allow six Japanese cities to host the integrated resorts.

PAGCOR: Boracay closure won’t derail Galaxy Ent’s $500M casino project

There’s no stopping Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) from constructing a $500 million integrated resort at the heart of the Philippine island oasis of Boracay, not even the island’s impending closure.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, GEG’s local partner Leisure and Resorts World Corp (LRWC) said it would proceed with its plan to build a $500 million integrated resort in Boracay despite the impending closure of the island.

LWRC announced it already purchased 23 hectares of land in Boracay as the two gambling operators anticipate Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation’s (PAGCOR) issuance of a casino license.

“Upon the issuance of the said license through the partnership between LRWC and GEG an Integrated Resort will be constructed in the said property,” LWRC said in a statement.

Vietnam online gambling ring nets $422M via ‘legal, illegal payment gateways’

New information has emerged in Vietnam’s investigation of a major illegal sports betting operation, which has resulted in the arrest of a former top cybercrime police chief along with two tech businessmen.

On Monday, Vietnamese authorities set the record straight on what they said were “inaccurate reports” about the crackdown on a major online gambling operation based in the northern province of Phu Tho, VietnamPlus reported. The police raid last week led to the seizure of around VND1t (US$44m) in cash and other assets from the organizers.

The Ministry of Public Security (MoPS) said the group started operating two websites, rikvip.com and rikvip.vn, in 2015. The sites offered a card game called Rikvip, later operated as mobile and computer application under the name Tip.club.

Before they can enter the games, the players will have to buy virtual scores, also known as RIK, using prepaid telecom cards, game cards, or bank accounts. They can also buy virtual scores at Rikvip agencies. According to MoPS, the gambling ring set up legal entities to connect with payment gateways in Vietnam, including the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS), to provide a “convenient payment system” for its players.

EPL review week 31: Palace pull clear; West Brom and Stoke sink further

Week 31 of the English Premier League sees Liverpool move above Spurs with a 5-0 thrashing of Watford, West Brom put another toe into the Championship with a defeat against Bournemouth, and Crystal Palace move two points clear of the drop zone with a win against Huddersfield.

There is something strange about milking a goat. It feels like you’re holding a penis in your hand, squirting white stuff out of the tip, and then there’s the sense that you are lower in the hierarchy than a Billy Goat Gruff.

I imagine that’s what it feels like to be in the bottom three of the English Premier League.

UK gambling regulator backpedals on £2 FOBT stake limit

The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) will no longer back a £2 limit on fixed-odd betting terminals (FOBTs) wagering levels. At least, not explicitly.

On Sunday, The Times reported that the gambling regulator is expected to recommend that UK ministers reject the initial proposal to enforce a £2 maximum stake—a huge drop from the current £100 per spin limit. Instead, the UKGC will endorse a maximum stake of £30 or less, and will also suggest “measures to combat the risk of harm,” according to the report.

The measures include prohibiting FOBT players from switching seamlessly between high-stakes games every 20 seconds and the so-called lower-stakes “quickfire” games; requiring bookmakers to track customer habits to identify problem gambling; and requiring the government to extend FOBT player protections to other machines.

Members of Parliament are expected to act on the UKGC guidance, although they can still opt for a £2 limit but only after taking into account the £500 million of tax revenues that the FOBTs contribute annually. The MPs had also been warned that too-low maximum stakes on FOBTs will result in more than 4,500 betting shops closing down, causing an estimated 21,000 people to be out of jobs by 2020.

Chris Moorman: From zero to hero in online poker

What’s it like to earn $1.5 million a year for having fun while lounging around in a bath robe? Chris Moorman would know the answer. The British poker player has racked up about $14.5 million online, and an additional $5.3 million in live action, in the past 13 years. He hasn’t confirmed whether or not he wears the bathrobe while playing.

Moorman had never even heard of poker until he went off to college, and didn’t get into the game until his second year. By the time he graduated, the now 32-year-old had made enough money to pay off his student loans, as well as put almost $70,000 in his wallet. He has become the most successful online player, and the only to earn more than $10 million.

When he broke the news to his parents that he had found his calling they were, as are all well-intentioned parents, high skeptical. However, he struck a deal with his father. In an interview with Essex Live, Moorman recounted how his “impressed” dad “gave me six months to see how much I could make.  If I failed I would have to get a proper job in the real world.” The Basildon, UK resident accepted the challenge and locked himself in his room, only to emerge six months later with almost $140,000 in his bank.

Moorman’s attack at live games, while maybe not as impressive, certainly has been substantial. He has one WSOP bracelet, which he won last year at the $1,500 NLHE Shootout along with just under $500,000, and five WSOP final table appearances. He has also picked up one WPT title with three money finishes, as well as three money finishes in the EPT. His WPT title in 2014 produced his largest purse to-date, giving him $1,015,460 to add to his bank. His largest single-game take prior to that was a $1-million second-place prize at the WPT Main Event Cannes three years earlier.

Sportsbook exchange Betrium boards ICO train

In just a week from now, yet another online gambling platform is scheduled to begin its own initial coin offering (ICO). Betrium is a partially-decentralized global betting exchange, and it raised over $1.2 million during the presale event. Company officials expect the ICO to be even better.

Betrium is an exchange that allows for sports betting using legacy Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash and ZCoin. It has a wide-reaching audience and currently offers the lowest commissions for online sports betting. No commissions are paid on withdrawals, deposit or winnings, and customers reportedly don’t have to pay personal income taxes on winnings.

Users can create events on the blockchain and upload them to Betrium’s betting platform to earn money. Around 80% of the income goes to the event organizers, according to the company. A digital marketing platform to promote the events is in the works, and should be launched by Betrium in the near future.

Betrium’s token, BTRM, has a pre-ICO price of 6,000 to 1 Ether token. The ICO, which is expected to raise around $5 million, will run from March 26 to April 29, after which the standard price will be 1,200 to 1 ETH. The coin will have worldwide availability and support for BTC, ETH, Dash and ERC20.
