EPL Wk 13 Review: Newcastle with three wins on the trot; Burnley in trouble

Week 13 of the English Premier League explodes like a landmine after Newcastle secured a third consecutive league win with a victory over bumbling Burnley at Turfmoor.

Last season, when Everton was playing managerial musical chairs, the hairless hero, Sean Dyche, frequently popped up in the Next Manager to Leave His Post odds.

He’s there again…for different reasons.

Dyche is now 16/1 to be the next manager to lose his position after his Burnley team failed to win for the sixth successive Premier League game, losing to Newcastle 2-1 in front of their frustrated home fans. The team who finished seventh, and qualified for the Europa League last term, now sit one point above the drop zone, having lost eight of their opening 13 fixtures.

EPL week 13 review: Chelsea lose unbeaten run to Spurs; City and Liverpool win

Week 13 of the English Premier League sees Spurs end Chelsea’s unbeaten record, and both West Ham and Watford fail to do the same thing against Man City and Liverpool respectively.

Spurs 3 v 1 Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri is not a man to trifle with, stalking his technical area with a face like hardened tar, munching on a substitute fag with a stinger that doesn’t leave your body in a hurry.

After Spurs ripped his Chelsea team a new asshole at Wembley Stadium, Sarri told the press that his side had played very badly, in all directions – physically, mentally, technically and tactically, and when pressed on whether he was impressed with Ross Barkley’s performance when he came off the bench, the Italian said that he didn’t like anybody.

NBA championship odds: Warriors still heavy favorites

The Golden State Warriors, who have won three NBA titles in the past four seasons, have looked rather mortal thus far in the 2018/19 season. They’ve suffered a rare losing streak and have been challenged at the top of the Western Conference. Two-time MVP Steph Curry hasn’t played since November 8 due to injury, and Draymond Green (also banged up) and Kevin Durant nearly came to blows.

Who cares? Oddsmakers don’t, as the Warriors are still heavy -160 favorites to win another title. Talent trumps all in the NBA, and at full strength with Curry, Durant, Green, Klay Thompson and whenever All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins is ready off surgery, the Warriors simply have way more talent than anyone else. They don’t care one iota about regular-season success.

The only way Golden State is supplanted as the title betting favorite during the regular season is if Curry or Durant suffers a season-ending injury.
