NFL Week 11 betting lines and trends roundup
One of the best things about Week 11 in the NFL this year? It’s the last one with more than two teams on the bye. Six are this week: Buffalo, Cleveland, Miami, the New York Jets, New England and San Francisco. Five really bad teams and the Patriots.
Odds courtesy of OddsShark.com
No question the marquee matchup of the week and perhaps the season is Monday night when the Kansas City Chiefs (9-1) visit the Los Angeles Rams (9-1) in a potential Super Bowl preview and between two of the highest-powered offenses in modern NFL history. This game originally was set for Mexico City but was moved due to the field conditions there being horrific. The Rams are -3.5 and the total of 63.5 is the highest in NFL history. Kansas City has covered eight of its last nine as an underdog.
It’s perhaps a playoff elimination game on Sunday as the Dallas Cowboys visit the Atlanta Falcons, with both clubs at 4-5. Very rare for teams 4-6 to play postseason football. The Falcons are 3-point favorites, and Dallas is just 3-7 straight up in its past 10 as a dog.

Imperial Pacific shuts casino “until further notice” after storm
Saipan casino operator Imperial Pacific International (IPI) is temporarily closing its venue after a tropical storm damaged the island’s international airport.
In late October, Super Typhoon Yutu hit the US Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), killing two local residents and destroying thousands of homes. The Saipan International Airport also suffered extensive damage and inbound traffic was restricted to humanitarian aid flights.
On Thursday, the Marianas Variety quoted IPI saying it would close its Imperial Pacific Resort on Friday “until further notice” because the airport’s closure has “put a complete halt to the tourism industry.”
IPI said the airport “is scheduled to resume normal operations soon,” but the company believes it will likely be “several weeks” before normality actually returns. CNMI officials said Thursday that the airport had resumed a limited number of international tourist arrivals from sunrise to sunset and hoped to restore full functionality by November 20.

partypoker receives Czech online gambling license
After an absence of almost two years, partypoker is back in the Czech Republic. The online poker portal has received a license by the country’s Finance Ministry, having exited the market in February of 2017. Leo Tsoukernik of King’s Casino in Rozvadov will reportedly run the online poker room.
The license was issued on November 10 and is already included in a Ministry list of licensed operators in the country. The domain name for the new portal, partypoker.cz, is valid, but redirects to a partypoker.com site, indicating that the Czech platform is still not live. No word has yet been provided on win the site might be operational. Partypoker is going to have to spend a lot of time developing the platform to be in compliance of local laws, which could potentially delay the site’s launch.
Following regulation changes in the country last year, partypoker left the Czech Republic. Amendments to how operators were regulated and able to operate in the country forced partypoker to leave the country and it subsequently withdrew an application for a local license.
King’s Casino has previously hosted the PartyPoker LIVE and MILLIONS tournament series. It has also organized a number of online satellite opportunities for the events, so the marriage between the two with Tsoukernik operating the online portal isn’t too much of a shocker for anyone.

Charity poker tourney honoring Gene Simmons raises $300K for LAPD
KISS rocker Gene Simmons was recently honored during the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation’s (LAPMF) “Heroes for Heroes” celebrity poker tournament for support he has given to the community. The event featured the poker tournament, casino games, a meet-and-greet with celebrities, a live auction and lots of food and drink. It was the perfect occasion to raise funds for a worthy cause and, by the time the festivities ended, $300,000 had been raised for the LAPMF.
In addition to being able to mix it up with Simmons, there was a long list of stars from a number of industries on hand. Chris Copeland and Jerry West of the National Basketball Association were on hand and Lethal Weapon’s Andrew Creer, Joanna Krupa and Jonathan Sadowski made an appearance, as did “Amityville: The Awakening” producer, Randall Emmett. From the poker world, John Cynn, winner of the 2018 WSOP Main Event, Jamie Gold and Traci Szymanski all participated in the tournament.
Up for grabs at the tournament were prizes such as a seat at the 2019 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, training sessions with Daniel Negreanu, dinner with baseball legend Tommy Lasorda and many more. In the end, Emmett took the top prize and chose to donate it to a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) police officer.
The auction included a number of popular items. Randall Emmett ultimately won an Andy Warhol original and Tito Ortiz took home a LA Rams helmet that was signed by Brandin Cooks, Todd Gurley, Jared Goff and Robert Woods. Simmons got in on the auction action, as well, donating $100,000 on his own autographed painting and challenging other bidders to put up $10,000 each for the opportunity to go for a spin in the KISS jet, as well as receive a backstage pass for the final KISS Tour.
Tennessee politician drafts sports gambling bill, voters elect anti-gambling governor
House Bill 1 (H.B. 1) in Tennessee looks to capture a piece of the growing sports gambling market. If approved, it would assess a 10% tax on all sports betting revenue, but there’s just one small problem. The state’s new governor isn’t a fan of gambling.
Tennessee’s General Assembly adjourned a scant two weeks before the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) this past May. PASPA had limited sports gambling to virtually only one state—Nevada—and its demise has opened the floodgates of new jurisdictions around the country moving to legalize sports wagers.
While the legislative body wasn’t able to capitalize on the death of PASPA during its previous session, some politicians hope to pick up the ball and run with it in the upcoming year. Representative Rick Staples has reportedly introduced H.B. 1 in an effort to launch and regulate the sports gambling industry in the state. It was submitted only a day after the midterm elections and gives communities the authorization to decide through local elections if they want sports wagering in their areas.
Unfortunately for Staples, and perhaps for H.B. 1, the midterm elections produced a new governor for Tennessee. Governor-elect Bill Lee is waiting to be sworn in and has already made it known that he isn’t fond of gambling. He is so anti-gambling that he even pronounced during a campaign debate this past October that he would work with the Assembly in order to make sure that no legislation on the subject of gambling would be approved.
