PokerStars dominance of the Italian online poker market is unquestionable. The decision to extend that enterprise to include online casino games is slowly bearing fruit.
The world’a largest online poker room has a 70% stranglehold on the Italian online poker industry. In May, it added online casino games to that product suite. Data collected from the Italian gambling regulator Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (AAMS), and sifted by Italian news outlet Agenzia Giornalistica sul Mercato del Gioco (AGIMEG), shows that at the end of 2015 the Amaya owned gambling outfit had grown to possess a 2.58% market share in the Italian online gambling industry overall.
More green shoots of growth than earth shuddered steps. However, the new market share is greater than that of established operators Bet365, Betsson and People’s Network. Lottomatica is the market leader with 14.66%, Sisal takes 9.69%, and William Hill possesses 8.28%.
