Things to know as New Mexico weighs new tribal casino deal

New Mexico lawmakers are facing a hard deadline as agreements that allow a handful of American Indian tribes to operate casinos approach their expiration date. Gov. Susana Martinez’s office has spent the past three years working with tribes to craft a new gambling compact that supporters say would bring stability to New Mexico’s gaming industry, protect jobs and increase revenues to the state.

No jackpot winners in Powerball, Lotto

Louisiana Lottery officials say none of the tickets purchased for the Powerball game matched all six numbers drawn which were: 11-17-25-28-46, Powerball: 12, Power Play: 2. The $80 million jackpot rises to an estimated $90 million for Wednesday’s drawing. In the Lotto game, the $1.02 million prize rises to an estimated $1.075 million.

Las Vegas' The Duck Commander Musical Finds Its Stars on Broadway

Casting has been announced for the stage production of The Duck Commander Musical, based on the popular, yet controversial family from the A&E series “Duck Dynasty.” The Duck Commander will begin previews April 8 at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas with an official opening night set for April 15. The cast will include Broadway actors Mimi Bessette as Miss Kay, Ben Thompson as Willie, Tad Wilson as Phil and Russell Arden Koplin as Missy.

Pearson confident after completing restructuring

The U.K. publisher on Friday said it sees sales this year, excluding acquisitions and disposals, increasing for the first time in five years amid a recovery of its core educations markets, including the U.S. The company has also completed a two-year restructuring plan which has hit Pearson’s earnings but saved the business hundreds of millions of dollars. Pearson, which publishes the salmon-colored Financial Times newspaper, said its 2014 net profit fell to GBP470 million from GBP538 million the prior year.

Rascal Flatts kicks off its Las Vegas residency in style

It was anything but a conventional grand entrance for Rascal Flatts on Wednesday as the band kicked off its nearly three-week Las Vegas stay an event unconventional in itself, considering the group is undertaking the first ever country residency to hit The Joint at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. As part of the residency, dubbed “Rascal Flatts Vegas Riot!,” the band is slated to play a total of nine shows through March 14, opened each night “The Voice” season 7 winner Craig Wayne Boyd.

Magellan Midstream and Plains All American to Build Saddlehorn Pipeline

Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P. and Plains All American Pipeline, L.P. announced that they have formed Saddlehorn Pipeline Company, a 50/50 limited liability company, to construct, own and operate the Saddlehorn pipeline, an approximately 550-mile pipeline that will transport various grades of crude oil from the DJ Basin, and potentially the broader Rocky Mountain area resource plays, to storage facilities in Cushing, OK owned by Magellan and Plains. An extension to Carr, CO is also under consideration for connection to existing crude oil assets owned by Plains in that region.

Jackpot-winning lottery ticket sold in Northeast Philly

A Cash 5 ticket sold at a restaurant supply store in the Crescentville section of Northeast Philadelphia won the jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing, the Pennsylvania Lottery announced. The ticket, sold at PJP Marketplace at 537 Adams Ave., correctly matched all five balls, 08-12-13-20-22, to net a prize of $450,000, less 25 percent federal withholding.
