Nintendo moves towards mobile gaming

This week, Nintendo shocked the gaming industry when it announced a partnership with DeNA, a company that makes free-to-play games for mobile phones. Historically, Nintendo has been resistant to releasing their well-known games on mobile devices, so the partnership represents a possible shift away from games that are exclusive to Nintendo’s gaming consoles.

Failed Lawrence County racetrack deal built around investment-for-green-card exchange

That was the financing vehicle of choice for the star-crossed Lawrence Downs Casino and Racing Resort, a proposed $225 million track near New Castle, Lawrence County. Plans to build that track blew up on Monday when the two development partners, Philadelphia investment group Endeka Entertainment and U.S. casino giant Penn National Gaming, sued each other.

Officials at the Pennsylvania Lottery are exploring an idea being tested in other states that allow lottery ticket sales to be sold at the gas pump, as one idea for increasing ticket sales to help grow the profits that pay for senior citizen programs. Imagine being able to buy lottery tickets at the pump while gassing up the car.

Vermont populist rallies Las Vegas union members to take on 'billionare class'

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, an independent populist who may challenge Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination, said Tuesday in Las Vegas that if he runs it will be to take on “the billionaire class” that’s getting richer while America’s middle class is in decline, with more people living in poverty. “Not only are we not winning the fight, we are losing the fight,” the Vermont senator said in a fist-pumping speech at a packed Culinary Local 226 union hall where workers cheered him on.

Atlanta Man Hits $12,500 Jackpot

An Atlanta man has won a Georgia Lottery promotional game and will take home a cash prize of just over $12,000. According to the Georgia Lottery, Edward Sons, 33, won the most recent Play It Again Reloaded Second Chance Promotion and was awarded the chance to spin the wheel and win anywhere from $5,000 to $1 million in cold hard cash.

Robert Lytle, the former chief of the state gambling enforcement unit, went on to build a successful business consulting for card rooms across the state after leaving his state job in 2007.
