The charges resulted from a years-long investigation into reported gambling activities at the Sunrise Market, 995 W. University Ave. Investigators’ search of the building in December netted several arrests and “thousands of dollars in currency, as well as Thai lottery tickets, receipts, lottery books, and numerous other items of gambling paraphernalia,” according to criminal complaints. While the Thai lottery is legitimate in Thailand, it’s illegal in Minnesota.
