DraftKings to test the Irish market

Daily fantasy sports giant DraftKings will test the unpredictable Irish market as it seeks to find fresh revenues beyond U.S. border.

In a statement, DraftKings said they chose Ireland to be the next European country to experience their brand of daily fantasy sports due to the country’s fervent sports fans.

The firm estimated that at least 2.7 million Irish call themselves sports fans, while 2.1 million attend professional and amateur sporting events in 2016. DraftKings also finds Ireland as an ideal place to expand due to the support that the country gives in its sports industry.

Figures showed that Ireland spent €2.5 billion ($2.94 billion) on the sports industry last year.
