Florida voters to decide on gambling expansion in November

The future of gambling expansion amendment in Florida now lies in the hands of the electorate.

Palm Beach Post reported that anti-gambling expansion proponent Voters in Charge has successfully gathered more than 766,200 petition signatures in order for the proposed constitutional amendment to be included on the ballot as “Amendment 3.”

The Seminole Tribe of Florida-backed “Voter Control of Gambling Amendment” aims to give voters the “exclusive right to decide whether to authorize casino gambling” in the state.

John Sowinski, chairman of the Voters in Charge political committee behind the amendment, expects groups supporting and opposing the gambling amendment to ramp up their spending to ensure their side’s victory.
