MGM’s easyPLAY online casino tournaments go Nevada-wide

Casino operator MGM Resorts has expanded its Las Vegas online casino-style tournaments to reach a statewide audience.

In July, MGM introduced its easyPLAY mobile casino offering, a co-venture with oneLIVE Inc. that enabled guests at MGM properties in Las Vegas to engage in slots, bingo and video poker tournament play via InteractivePro tables or on their personal mobile devices.

This week, MGM expanded easyPLAY’s reach to allow individuals over 21 years of age located anywhere within Nevada’s borders to join in the fun. oneLIVE CEO Michael Jabara told USPoker that the expansion was a direct result of easyPLAY’s successful rollout at the MGM properties.

Nevada has allowed legal online poker and mobile sports betting for years now – with the latter product infinitely more successful than the former – but online casino play remains a forbidden fruit. easyPLAY’s tournaments don’t allow players to engage in solo betting against the house’s slots or video poker machines. Instead, players pay an entry fee and compete with the rest of the field for a cash prize. A free-play version of the product is also available outside Nevada.
