Seth Palansky on The First US Interstate Compact of the Online Poker

Rebecca Liggero interviews Seth Palansky, VP of Corporate Communication of Ceasars Interactive Entertaiment as he talks about the first US interstate internet agreement between Nevada and Delaware.

Nevada and Delaware leaders signed a landmark agreement on February 24 that will join their states for online poker, potentially increasing payouts for residents who gamble while aiming to model how states might collaborate on an emerging economic opportunity.

The Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement signed by Gov. Brian Sandoval of Nevada and Gov. Jack Markell of Delaware in Wilmington establishes a legal framework for the first authorized interstate Internet gambling.

“It’s a really big deal it’s the first time two state in the United States have joined up and it’s really setting the blueprint for the blue print for the future of the igaming across the United States and hopefully linking globally with other market potentially,” said Palansky

Tips to Content Creation and Development

Tell me someone who has not heard of the word ‘content’ this week, and I’ll tell you someone who never blinked his eyes all his life. Ok, the latter maybe was too much (and totally a weird analogy) but content, as we all know, is everywhere! Everybody wants a piece of it, everybody wants to create the best for their brand!

I bet I am not the only who wakes up, looks at their mobile phone and starts browsing for whatever is out there. And for sure, I am not the only who’s fascinated with how people come up with the most captivating, thrilling and just straight dumbfounding information. But not all content is created the equal. Great content has the power to sweep you off your feet, give you just a sense of tranquility, inspire you or motivate you to get out of the house ready to face the day.

How do we make effective content? How do we make the compelling content, something unexpected, and something that is made to stick?

Content creation and development is such an exciting and important process for any business. If done right, it appears effortless. But it’s no small feat to produce great content, you can’t just produce anything and put it out there and expect great results. After years of creating content, including days and nights crying over it, I understand that it isn’t as effortless as it looks! However, there are a few easy tips that help me create great content.

Warriors win the 2015 NBA Championship, the first since 1975

The Golden State Warriors won the 2015 NBA Championship, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 105-97 in Game 6.

It seemed inevitable that the Warriors would grab the Larry O’Brien Trophy on Quicken Loans Arena—Cavs’ home court—as they jumped out to 28-15 lead on the first quarter. Cavs managed to cut the it 45-43 by halftime but the Splash brothers Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson splashed consecutive 3-pointers during a two-minute stretch to push the lead to 92-77 with 6 minutes remaining.

Draymond Green finished with a triple-double while Andre Iguodala matched the Regular Season MVP Curry to lead the game with 25 points.

Remarkably, Iguodala had not started a game this season until the Warriors reached Game 3 of the Finals but the 31-year-old won the NBA Finals MVP by a 7-4 vote over Lebron James who received 4 of the 11 votes.

US Treasury Department money laundering risk assessment targets casinos

Nevada casinos confiscate around $40k in counterfeit cash every week, according to a new US government study.

Last week saw the release of the Treasury Department’s national money laundering risk assessment, which is viewable here (the casino section starts on page 74), although be forewarned that it often reads like a hypochondriac’s database of things that could go wrong.

The phony cash claim comes via the Secret Service, who linked the counterfeiters with ‘minimal gaming,’ where gamblers make major cash deposits but cash out for a casino check or a wire transfer after minimal play.

The most commonly reported suspicious activity at Nevada casinos was structuring transactions so they fly under federal reporting limits, and most of this structuring happens at the sportsbooks.

The program was built by London-based player “skier_5”, which offers users game theory optimal decision, while allowing the player to remain in control.

As the program is not classed as a ‘bot’, PokerStars has so far deemed skier_5 as acceptable for use by players but customers have issued a series of complaints to the operator over the new program, alleging that it can help transform good players into world-class players.

The software was also judged by the general poker community to have crossed lines regarding automated play, and drew widespread protests, especially from TwoPlusTwo forums.

How Envy Rots the Bones (And Also Makes You a Terrible Poker Player)

Lee Davy talks about a cash game hand that made him realize that his life contains too much envy, and how that affects, not only his poker game, but also his life in a general sense.

I played my first cash game session last night. It was a $1/3 No-Limit Hold’em game in the Rio. I only had $300 in my pocket, meaning only one opportunity to make a bit of money.

I don’t have a very good cash game mindset. I always sit down with the belief that I am going to lose. There are other thoughts that infiltrate my mind that affects my game. Only having $300 in my pocket is one, wanting to win for my backer is another, and a desperate urge to win completes the trio of terrible thoughts.

I played a total of four hands. I was in and out quicker than a teenage boy facing his first hymen. I was staring at a KK9 flop, in a single raised pot, and I was holding KQ. There was $15 in the pot pre flop. For some reason I thought I could get $600 in it by the river. My plan worked, but I didn’t leave with any money. My opponent held K9.

WSOP Day 20 Round Up: Phil Galfond Wins His 2nd Gold Bracelet; Hoyt Corkins Looking for No.3 in the Monster Stack

Lee Davy brings you up to speed with all the news from the 20th day of the 46th  Annual World Series of Poker including a second bracelet for Phil Galfond, and Hoyt Corkins taking the chip lead into the fourth day of action in the Monster Stack.

Phil Galfond has won Event #29: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship. It’s his second World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet victory. His first came seven years ago in a Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) event. He earned $224,383 for his win, a sum of money that he wins and loses in a single hand of online cash game action. But money is not the motivating factor here. It’s all about the gold.

I would like to say that Galfond did it the hard way, but with only 77 players entering the event, and fewer weak spots than a Terminator, it was always going to be tough. Most $10,000 Championship events are.

Of the final 14-players in this event, six were multiple bracelet winners. Nick Schulman was amongst that group, having won this very event on two different occasions. Erik Seidel was another two-time winner of this event. Galfond overcame a 3:1 heads-up chip deficit against Schulman thus preventing him from becoming the first player to win it thrice.

German minister in charge of online sports betting licensing wants a do-over

The ultimate fate of Germany’s online sports betting licensing regime may not come until September, but one of the country’s top political figures has already thrown in the towel.

Germany announced the 20 lucky recipients of its marathon online sports betting licensing derby last September, but court challenges by unsuccessful applicants have kept those licenses locked in the desk drawer of the Hesse Ministry of the Interior and Sport.

Last month, the Administrative Court of Wiesbaden ruled that the licensing process had been a procedural nightmare, lacked transparency and likely breached European Union rules on the freedom to provide services. The Administrative Court of Frankfurt echoed this ruling earlier this month.

On Monday, Peter Beuth (pictured), who heads the ministry that oversaw the licensing process, wrote an op-ed in Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung in which he admitted that the process had been botched. Beuth said the debacle of the past three years demonstrated the need for an “urgent” overhaul of the federal Interstate Gambling Treaty, which he described as a “dead end” and incapable of achieving its objectives.
