Tower Holdings aims a casino license in Great Keppel

Tower Holdings calls for a casino license to attract international investors, after receiving an approval from the Queensland government to build its $2 billion Great Keppel Island resort.

The developer has confirmed that it would like to proceed with the construction of the resort but in order to source international finance to fund the project, it would need to show investors a casino license to prove that the resort can profit via its casino gaming revenue.

The Queensland government has been hesitant to approve a boutique casino license because the two regional casinos— Jupiters Hotel & Casino in Townsville and the Reef Hotel Casino in Cairns—have a similar number of casino tables.

The Jupiters operates 27 tables while the Reef operates 38 tables and hence granting a boutique license to operate 35 casino tables for the Great Keppel casino would cause a controversy.

Gaming Commission chairman under investigation over Boston casino license

Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) Chairman Stephen Crosby confirmed that he is under investigation for a possible conflict of interest in a casino license review for Everette.

The Massachusetts Ethics Commission (MEC) has launched a preliminary inquiry after receiving a sworn statement indicating that Crosby “actively participated” in a review for a casino license in Everett, just north of Boston, after he removed himself from the proceedings.

“I have rigorously adhered to all regulations and guidance provided to me by the State Ethics Commission over the last three years,” said Crosby in a statement. “I am fully cooperating with what I understand to be a preliminary inquiry and I look forward to an expedient resolution of that inquiry.”

Crosby revealed that Paul Lohnes, the land owner of the site where Steve Wynn planned to build his $1.75 billion resort casino, is his long time friend. However, he didn’t reveal his relationship with Lohnes until he was questioned by the state police in 2013 investigating the possibility that Lohnes had secret partners with criminal records.

How Psychic Numbing Fills the Venetian Poker Room

The Mid States Poker Tour break their attendance record after 1,964 players enter their Venetian event prompting Lee Davy to ponder why people play in the lair of the enemy in the first place?

It’s my wedding anniversary on Friday. We will celebrate it where it all began, in Las Vegas. I welcome advice on the best eateries in town. I only have one golden rule: I will not eat in an establishment owned by Sheldon Adelson.

Adelson called online poker a ‘cancer waiting to happen.’ He promised to spend whatever it took to shut online poker down. He is currently the 18th richest man in the world, with an estimated fortune of $31.4 billion. He took that money from the world’s gamblers. He is a hypocrite as well as a threat to our industry.

This is why I won’t set foot in a Sheldon Adelson owned property. If I do, and I spend some money, then my money will be used to create bills like the Restoration Of America’s Wire Act (RAWA). Bills designed to prevent people from gambling online. Bills designed to stop me working.
