ALC writes off $8.7m Geonomics investment

Atlantic Lottery Corporation announced on Friday that it is giving up on its $8.7 million gamble on GeoSweep, recouping it off as a loss.

The lottery corporation invested in the British company Geonomics in 2011 with the firm creating a geography-based online lottery for the Atlantic region.

However, as unsatisfactory sales greeted the game where buyers were asked to purchase square on a map of Atlantic Canada.

The location-based online lottery game offered players the chance to win a top prize of $250,000, with a secondary drawing for the chance to win a $1,000 daily guarantee prize. It differs from traditional numbers-based lottery games by offering players a choice of geographic blocks from a map of Atlantic Canada, which are then drawn instead of numbers.

Wang Bo heads P91b illegal gambling network says Chinese Embassy

Evidence submitted by the Chinese Embassy showed that Bo Wang leads a P91b crime syndicate in China.

The embassy also said that the proceeds of the P91b illegal gambling business were being brought to the Philippines to be laundered and to expand the illegal network.

These documents were submitted by Chinese Embassy through Police Attache Fu Yufien on May 22 to show that Wang was a fugitive wanted by Interpol and the Chinese government for illegal gambling and money laundering, indicating a posed a risk to the Philippines

These evidence prompted Immigration Commissioner Siegfred Mison to vote for the reversal of the May 21 release order that would have freed Wang and restored his businessman status.
