Fantasy Sports Still Illegal in Louisiana

Rep. Joseph Lopinto voluntarily deferred bill HB 475 bill that would have legalized daily fantasy sports after encountering opposition from lobbying groups.

In a Senate committee hearing on Tuesday, Lopinto pulled out the bill upon realizing it would have been rejected, taking if off of the committee’s schedule for this session and said that he might try again next year.

“Everything’s worth trying another year,” said Lopinto. “New elections and terms limits bring new people and new ideas.”

“I brought that bill, and obviously I know that there’s a lot of controversy that has been brought with it. I’ve been trying to work with both sides in order to make that happen, it has not happened as of yet,” Lopinto added.

Endorphina partners up with SoftSwiss

Endorphina, a Czech-based igaming software provider, has partnered up with SoftSwiss, a high-end gaming platform developed in Austria.

Under the agreement, SoftSwiss will be taking on entire Endorphina game catalogue including favourite slots Wild Fruits and Fairy Tale and also new games such as Gzhel and Satoshi’s Secret.

The dialogue between Endorphina and SoftSwiss has been on for a while but it was in May at Bitcoin Conference Prague where representatives from both companies met and signed the contract. And it was a perfect place to begin this partnership as Endorphina was introducing its new Bitcoin-themed slot Satohi’s Secret and Ivan Montik from SoftSwiss, although online gaming and ecommerce is their primary focus, was talking about Bitcoin in gambling.

Ruslan Lyulko, Head of Sales from Endorphina comments on their partnership with SoftSwiss:  “I’ve met Ivan Montik several times and it’s been pleasure doing business with SoftSwiss. We officially agreed on our cooperation just a few weeks ago in Prague and our games are now live at SoftSwiss platform after a quick integration and profound testing. I believe that both, Endorphina and SoftSwiss, are going to benefit from this partnership. It is important for us to make sure that not only ourselves but especially players of Endorphina games can trust casinos operating with SoftSwiss platform. We also appreciate the ability to play for Bitcoins which makes gaming even easier for players as there are no third parties involved in the transactions.“

Who is to blame for Gambling?

This is a guest contribution by Rick Slot, Marketing Director of Slotozilla.com. If you would like to submit a contribution please contact Bill Beatty for submission details. Thank you.

Gambling has been around since the first human being chose to swim across the river and get that berry bush, instead of finding one on their side of the bank. Every day, on every side of our lives we make a bet on an outcome. People often lie to themselves making claims like “I don’t gamble”. We all do. Some more calculated, some impulsive, other just for the thrill. Kissing a girl for the first time is the biggest bet out there…especially if it’s another girl. Some of the most successful and most morally praised companies were built on making high-risk decisions and gambling with everything. But why then, artificially created gambling is being given blame for all the world’s problems when it’s merely a part of our human nature?

Andrew ‘Luckychewy’ Lichtenberger wins the second $25,000 High Roller of the summer at The Aria, and Maria Ho leaves the Heartland Poker Tour for a fresh project called Poker Night: The Tour.

Andrew ‘Luckychewy’ Lichtenberger likes Las Vegas. It’s where he lays his hat, but more importantly, it’s where he makes most of his money.

Lichtenberger has taken down the second Aria $25,000 High Roller of the summer, after beating Erik Seidel in heads-up action, pocketing $398,160 in the process.

It’s the fourth big Vegas win for Lichtenberger in the past 12-months. It started with a third place finish in a $5,000 buy-in Six Handed No Limit Hold’em (NLHE) event at the 2014 WSOP for $242,827, it got even better after he finished second in the $50,000 NLHE Aria High Roller in Nov for $422,968, and went supernova after picking up $1,770,692 for winning the World Poker Tour (WPT) Alpha8 at The Bellagio, in Dec.

Sam Trickett: The Devilfish, Global Poker Masters, and Preparing for the WSOP

Lee Davy sits down with Sam Trickett to talk about his car crash, his appearance at the Global Poker Masters, Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott, and preparing for the World Series of Poker.

It’s been a tough year for Sam Trickett.

Stitches in a foot wound, and several visits to the hospital for lethargy and flu like symptoms didn’t bode well for a 2014 World Series of Poker (WSOP). Then he parted ways with his long term partner Natasha Sandhu. Add in the fact that he failed to secure a seven figure annual live tournament haul for the first time in five years, and then crashed his Ferrari; it’s time for an upswing.

I caught up with him as he began searching for that upswing at the 46th Annual WSOP. This is what he had to say.

WSOP Day #6 Recap: John Reading Blasts His Way Through to Gold; Tuan Le Looking to Defend His Title

Lee Davy brings you a recap of the sixth day of action at the 46th Annual World Series of Poker. News stories include a gold bracelet for John Reading, a sterling defense of his 2-7 Triple Draw title by Tuan Le, and we get to the business end of The Colossus.

John Reading is having quite a year.

Back in April, Reading earned a World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) gold ring, when he defeated Marvin Rumery, in heads-up action, to win the Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better title at Horseshoe Council Bluffs.

Yesterday, he added a World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet to that ring, after blazing through one of the fastest final tables in WSOP history, taking the title in less than two hours.

A Review of the World Series of Zombies Comic

Lee Davy casts his beady eyes over the World Series of Zombies comic and provides his opinion on Chad Holloway’s breakout piece.

I pushed out the press release, and I interviewed the author, but was the World Series of Zombies (WSOZ) comic any good?

Like most kids, I learned most of my early vocabulary reading the likes of The Beano, Roy of the Rovers, Asterisk and Tintin. Like most kids, I would sneak out of bed, slide my head over the top of the stairs and watch TV, unbeknown to my parents sitting on the couch below.

One evening they were watching George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead. I shit myself, literally. Zombies have scared the living crap out of me ever since, but I still have this urge to watch. I’m searching for the answer on everyone’s lips. How can a zombie kill anyone when it walks so slowly? Writers of World War Z, and Game of Thrones, have solved this problem by creating zombies that move quicker than Sam Trickett plays a hand.

Nevada Live Poker Down Year On Year Despite WSOP Colossus Turn-Out

Las Vegas’ top poker rooms may be bursting at the seams at the moment thanks to the hordes of players that have descended on Sin City from across the world with dreams of enrichment at the World Series of Poker this year, but this belies a wider and disquieting truth. Nevada’s poker rooms collectively amassed […]

America’s oldest tribal casino found in Utah cave; Soboba slot space-bound

Archaeologists believe a cave in Utah may contain the remnants of North America’s oldest tribal casino.

Among the artifacts found in the cave near Great Salt Lake are hundreds of primitive dice and carved sticks, hoops and darts dating from the late 13th century. The University of Alberta’s Prof. Jack Ives told Western Digs there might be thousands more such items in the cave, making this find “unparalleled in western North America.”

Ives said the cave-dwellers, dubbed the Promontory Culture, apparently lived in relative affluence to some of their neighbors and thus had time to devote to leisure activities such as gambling.

In comparison to modern dice, the versions found in the cave were split pieces of cane marked on one side only. Up to eight dice were thrown simultaneously, with points awarded for however many landed with their marked side facing up, and the first person to reach an agreed upon total declared the winner.
