Leovegas Tackles Blue Monday with #orangefunday Coffee and Chocolate

LeoVegas is making the most of Blue Monday with a PR campaign utilising press, social media and experiential activity as it looks to cheer up those feeling the most glum.

The mobile casino is focusing its efforts on Manchester and Leeds after research it conducted at the start of the month found its residents and commuters to be worst affected by the Monday blues.

LeoVegas spent the early part of this morning on the streets of both cities handing out LeoVegas-branded chocolate and coffee vouchers to commuters making their way to work. Those who shared their excitement over social media received responses from the mobile casino including random acts of kindness, such as free spins and cheerful GIFS.

Shenaly Amin, UK Country Manager at LeoVegas.com, said: “The feedback on the street has been great so we hope our Blue Monday activity has put a smile on some faces today and turned it into more of an Orange Funday. Manchester and Leeds are both great cities so it was nice to be able to cheer up their commuters and residents alike.

Kirolbet ink two-season betting partnership with La Liga’s Real Sociedad

Spanish-licensed bookmaker Kirolbet has added Basque football side Real Socieadad to its growing list of sponsorship scalps.

On Friday, Kirolbet had signed on as the official betting sponsor of La Liga side Real Sociedead. Terms weren’t disclosed, but the deal offers Kirolbet numerous branding opportunities both at the club’s Anoeta home ground as well as via the team’s digital channels. The deal covers the current season and the following year’s campaign.

The deal marks the third Basque club in La Liga’s first division with which Kirolbet has a partnership, joining Athletic Bilbao and Elbar SD. Kirolbet also has a significant presence in the second division as the official betting partner of CA Osasuna, UG Logrones and Coruxo FC.

Kirolbet managing director Eñaut Ruiz called Real Sociedad “the perfect travel companion” for expanding his company’s public profile, while marketing director Benardo Elorz added that the bookie and the footie have a “common and ambitious philosophy.” But team director Jesus Ruiz one-upped the bookies in the wit sweepstakes by claiming that the companies were “a safe bet” to grow together.

Washington state considers bill to make daily fantasy sports a class C felony

Washington state legislators held a hearing on Monday to consider a bill that would make most daily fantasy sports activity subject to felony charges.

Washington long ago declared DFS to be illegal gambling but Rep. Chris Hurst’s HB 2370 would slap class C felony charges on pretty much anyone making a buck off DFS, including those who “offer for play, operate, or advertise a fantasy sports game in this state.”

Washington has long been a dead zone in this regard, having made all forms of online gambling activity punishable as a class C felony back in 2010, leaving offenders liable for up to five years in prison and fines of $10k. Multiple bills that would repeal this measure have been introduced in the ensuring years, none of which have succeeded in passing.

On Monday, Hurst chaired a public hearing of the House Commerce and Gaming committee, at which he declared that he didn’t have a problem with season-long fantasy sports. However, Hurst said this “once fun and social game” had been “prostituted into a horrifically bad industry” by the fantasy carveout in the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).
