Slots operator Entertainment Gaming Asia (EGA) has further streamlined its operations by selling off its slot machines at gaming venues in Cambodia and the Phillippines.
In March, EGA rejigged its slots supply deal with NagaWorld, the Phnom Penh casino operated by NagaCorp. The previous deal gave EGA a 25% share of the net win of the 670 electronic gaming machines (EGM) it leased to NagaWorld, while the new deal paid EGA a fixed rate per machine that decreased as time went on.
Last week, EGA announced that the leasing deal with NagaWorld had been terminated as of June 30 and it had opted to sell all 670 machines to an undisclosed third-party in Cambodia for $2.5m.
EGA announced a similar sale of 154 EGM it had been leasing to the Leisure World VIP Slot Club in the Philippines. This lease agreement also expired on June 30 and EGA sold the machines to a company “‘principally engaged in the gaming, recreation and leisure businesses” for $750k.

The Canadian province of Quebec’s controversial plan to IP-block online gambling sites is facing its first official challenge.
On Monday, the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC) filed an application (read it here) with the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), asking it to reject Quebec’s Bill 74 as an unconstitutional challenge to federal control over the internet.
In May, the Quebec legislature approved Bill 74, omnibus legislation that contained language compelling the province’s internet service providers to block the domains of online gambling sites not run by the Loto-Quebec gaming monopoly or any privately operated sites that Loto-Quebec chooses to license (such as Montreal-based Amaya Gaming’s PokerStars brand).
Civil libertarians have decried Bill 74 as an unprecedented act of online censorship while recent court rulings have affirmed the precept that telecommunications fall under federal jurisdiction, making Quebec’s nakedly profit-based protectionism liable to a constitutional challenge.

The five floating casinos in the Indian state of Goa could find a new permanent home after a private investor offered to establish a “special offshore casino zone.”
In March, Goa’s state government bucked public pressure and controversially renewed the licenses of its floating casinos for a one-year period on the condition that the casinos find somewhere other than the Mandovi river to call home.
Over the weekend, Gayatriraje Chowgule told The Nahvind Times that she’d pitched the government on relocating the casinos to a stretch of land the family’s Chowgule Group owns along the Zuari river near Chicalim, about 3km from Dabolim international airport.
Chowgule said the family had approached the government in February but had yet to enter into agreements with the casino owners. Chowgule insisted that the family wouldn’t be “hosting the casinos … we are only facilitating the government” and it was up to the government to decide whether to authorize the casinos to dock at the site.
