BetVictor switch EPL loyalty to Liverpool FC; EnergyBet sponsor Leyton Orient

UK online betting operator BetVictor has inked a new sponsorship with English Premier League side Liverpool FC.

On Friday, BetVictor announced that it had signed on as Liverpool’s official global betting partner. In addition to the usual branding opportunities via digital channels, inside Anfield stadium and on the team’s press conference backdrop, the three-year deal will see BetVictor’s logo plastered across the team’s training kit.

BetVictor CEO Andreas Meinrad expressed the standard “delight” at the tie-up, calling Liverpool “an ideal fit to help with our ambitious growth plans.” The announcement came just one day after the expiration of BetVictor’s partnership with Liverpool rivals Chelsea FC.

A little further down the English football pecking order, UK- and Malta-licensed online gambling firm EnergyBet – a new betting site from the folks who brought you EnergyCasino – has inked a two-year sponsorship deal with League Two squad Leyton Orient. The deal will see EnergyBet’s logo adorn the O’s home, away and third jerseys, as well as the club’s training kit.

China sports lottery sales spike; online lottery freeze boosts DJI Holdings’ losses

China’s lottery numbers rose again in May, spurred by double-digit growth in sports lottery sales.

According to figures released on Friday by the Ministry of Finance, overall lottery sales came to RMB 34.6b (US $5.4b) in the month of May, up 7.8% from the same month last year. For the year to date, sales are up 0.5% to RMB 160.3b.

In keeping with recent trends, sports lottery sales growth dramatically outpaced welfare lottery numbers. Welfare lottery sales were up 1.8% to RMB 18.4b while sports lottery sales were up 15.6% to RMB 16.2b. The sports lottery numbers will undoubtedly get a further boost in the next monthly report thanks to the Euro 2016 football tournament.

UK-licensed lottery and payment processing firm DJI Holdings, which focuses on the Chinese market, announced this week that its annual after-tax loss had widened to £11.4m in 2015 from £3.6m in 2014. The company blamed Beijing’s March 2015 decision to ‘temporarily’ suspend online lottery sales, a suspension that continues to this day.

Win Cash Live enters administration after failing to attract new investment

UK-licensed online gambling operator Win Cash Live has frozen customer accounts after entering administration.

In a notice posted to its site on Friday, Win Cash Live’s parent company Lean Forward Ltd informed customers that it had appointed two insolvency attorneys from Quantuma LLP to manage its affairs as the company undertook “a review of the current financial position.”

The betting site, which founder Ashley Faull launched one year ago, said “all gambling and sportsbook accounts have been frozen” until the joint administrators untangle the company’s tangled financial situation.

Faull told eGaming Review that the “difficult decision” to enter administration was taken following an unsuccessful search for new investors that began in March. Faull also failed to find an outright buyer for the company despite an “accelerated sales process.”
