Premier League Review: Man City Derby Win

Manchester City remains the only Premier League club to maintain a 100% record after beating rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford; Chelsea move into second after a draw in South Wales, and West Ham has troubles in more ways than one.

Manchester City is the only Premier League side left with a 100% record after Week 4 courtesy of a stunning victory against their inter-city rivals Manchester United, at Old Trafford.

It was the most eagerly anticipated Manchester derby game in modern times. The two best coaches in the world, some of the best players, and two 100% records to protect.

Both Manchester sides missed their star men in this one. Sergio Aguero started his three-match suspension for elbowing West Ham’s Winston Reid in Week 3. And you could be forgiven for forgetting Paul Pogba was on the pitch such was his dismal display in such an important early season rubber.

High court threatens to close online lotteries if Maharashtra continues to snub lawsuit

Maharashtra’s continued refusal to respond to a lawsuit could cost the Indian state its precious online lotteries.

Last week, the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court warned the Maharashtra government to file an affidavit answering a public interest litigation (PIL) filed against the state within two weeks—or risk having all its online lotteries shut down, Times of India reported.

The PIL was filed by a Chandan Trivedi, who asked the high court to immediately ban the “unauthorized and alluring” online lotteries in the state.

In his petition, Trivedi claimed that there are more than 1,300 “bogus online lotteries” promoted by other states within Maharashtra, despite the government permitting only 13 lotteries to operate in the state. According to the PIL, the online lotteries—in which results were announced every 15 minutes on a single-digit—were under different names and the operators were able to secure permission not from Maharashtra, but from states like Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Meghalaya.

Sands not letting go of $10B casino resort dream in South Korea

Sheldon Adelson’s group is pressing on with its plan of building a casino resort—one that will allow locals in—in South Korea.

In an interview with the Korea Economic Daily, George Tanasijevich, managing director of global development for Las Vegas Sands Corp., confirmed that Sands Group is still eyeing South Korea’s port city of Busan as the location for its $10 billion integrated resort.

“The best location for Sands Group to invest in is Busan. We are willing to move in as soon as investment conditions are met,” Tanasijevich told the South Korean news outlet, pointing out that Busan “has an unlimited growth potential” due to its location between Japan and China although the country is “suffering in obscurity due to lack of enough five-star hotels and exhibition and conventions areas.”

Back in June, “key members” of casino operator Las Vegas Sands reportedly made their way to Busan North Port to have “a look around the land for establishment of the entertainment resort,” and also met with the Busan city government to talk “investment strategy.”

There was a time when I was ‘with it,’ but it does seem an awfully long time ago. Several years ago, in a bid to prove to my son that I was cool when I was his age I had to ring a friend to confirm my bold words. All that credibility was lost a few weeks ago when I told my son I assumed the purpose of Pokemon Go was to find real people dressed up in Pokemon costumes hanging around shopping malls.

I don’t think I am ‘with it’ anymore.

At dinner a few nights ago, a friend of mine in his late 40s didn’t stop playing the game, because he said he never gets out of the house and was bored of catching the same Pokemon at home.

ESPN Fantasy App Crashes on Frst Sunday of NFL Season

If there’s one thing that today’s NFL fans need on Sunday, it’s fantasy football. But much to the dismay of many fans, one platform has failed to deliver.

ESPN ran into a big problem over the weekend, when the site’s fantasy sports platform crashed, causing both the site and the ESPN Fantasy Football app unreachable for hours.

The company confirmed the outage, which started around the same time as the first round of the NFL games, on their Twitter account, tweeting: “We are aware of the current technical difficulties. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue ASAP.”

More than four hours later, ESPN announced that the Fantasy Football platform has been restored. In a statement to Tech Crunch, the company said the crash was caused by a “backend data access issue,” which was “resolved as quickly as possible.”

Poker Hall of Fame Shortlist Once Again Divides North American and European Poker Communities

The ten finalists for the 2016 Poker Hall of Fame are released prompting the annual punch up between North American and European poker communities over the validity of those selected.

I used to love a Saturday afternoon watching Saint and Greavsie and World of Sport. I laughed my ass off when I learned that Big Daddy was called Shirley, and the whole town would come to a standstill when he bellied-off against Giant Haystacks.

Americans have probably never heard of either show and to some extent, it’s the same in poker.

The UK born pros who grew up watching Late Night Poker and the Poker Million will think the sun shines out of the Devilfish’s chauvinistic ass. The American-born pros who watched the World Series of Poker (WSOP), World Poker Tour (WPT) and the barrage of other poker related TV shows will no doubt prefer the much prettier ass of Jennifer Harman.
