Schleswig-Holstein to revive shelved online gambling policy
The German state of Schleswig-Holstein’s new coalition government says it intends to ignore the new federal State Treaty on Gambling in favor of an independent and more liberal regulatory scheme.
Last month, local elections in Schleswig-Holstein failed to produce a single majority party, leading to complex negotiations on a coalition involving the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the Free Democratic Party (FDP) and the Green Party.
This ‘Jamaica coalition’ – so named due to the colors associated with the three parties being the same as those in the national flag of Jamaica – released its agreed upon fiscal policy positions on Thursday, which included a declaration that Schleswig-Holstein intends to go its own way on the subject of gambling legislation.
LNonline reported that the coalition intends to team up with the state governments in North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse on a new regulatory scheme “based on the rules of the Schleswig-Holstein law valid until 2013.”

New Jersey governor to grant relief for Atlantic City casinos
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is playing a genie to Atlantic City’s casinos as he grants their wish for relief from some of New Jersey’s gambling regulations.
The Courier-Post reported that Christie will unveil additional relief for casino operators in Atlantic City within 30 to 45 days but the New Jersey governor has not specified the rules and regulations that casino operators wanted to be lifted, amended, or strike down.
Christie, who met with the heads of MGM Resorts International and Caesars Entertainment, said the relief will “bring Atlantic City’s regulations into the 21st century.”
For the past six years, New Jersey has attempted to streamline the casino industry’s regulations, including making a casino license valid indefinitely instead of requiring costly reapplications every five years.

That all changed dramatically after the German pro, overcame a 2:1 chip deficit (twice) to defeat the overwhelming favourite Jake Schindler in heads-up action to bank the $6m first prize, and his first live tournament title, in the 2017 Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB).
Schindler will need some time to get over this one. The American had Vogelsang out on his feet on two separate occasions only for the river to come flooding in and drown him each time.
