Eiler wins the first €25k of the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Grand Final Barcelona

The partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Grand Final in Barcelona is off to a great start with 88-entrants ensuring the €2m GTD €25,000 runs swimmingly, and Andreas Eiler takes home the €700,000 first prize.

If partypoker is going to become the king of the live tournament jungle they need to sink teeth into the necks of the most celebrated players in the world. They need to build a big bad brood, and an event like partypoker LIVE Grand MILLIONS Barcelona becomes a crucial breeding ground.

Yes, the beating heart of the live tournament consists of the teeming schools of fish, but it’s those that compete in the high stakes echelons that act as the sparkling lure in these things.

If the Grand Final goes well, and these superstars feel well looked after, who knows, they may call this brand ‘home?’

Swiss pol: casino offered board seat to support online gambling blocking

A Swiss legislator claims he was offered a seat on a casino’s board of directors in what he viewed as a bid to sway his vote on the country’s online gambling legislation.

On Friday, Swiss media outlet Tages Anzeiger reported that parliamentarian Marcel Dobler had received an offer of a seat on the board of directors of one of the country’s land-based casinos. Dobler declined to specify the casino’s identity, but claimed the offer was intended “to prevent me from engaging in the law.”

A few weeks before the offer was made, Dobler, who represents the Free Democratic Party (FDP) in the National Council, had voted against the country’s controversial new online gambling law. The law will restrict online gambling to the country’s casino operators and state lotteries, while requiring local internet service providers to block the domains of internationally licensed gambling sites.

However, the FDP’s youth league succeeded in garnering a sufficient number of petition signatures to require a referendum on the online gambling law. The referendum will be held on June 10 and both sides of the argument are lobbying hard to see their side prevail.

Nepalese taxmen have raided Tiger Palace Casino Resort in Bhairahawa over the weekend following reports that the integrated resort is illegally selling alcoholic beverage to its clientele.

The Kathmandu Post reported that Tiger Palace, operated by Australia-listed casino operator Silver Heritage Group, had repeatedly dismissed warnings of Nepal’s Inland Revenue Office (IRO) to obtain a license before selling alcoholic beverages in the casino area of the five-star gambling facility.

Nepalese officials claimed that Tiger Palace is only permitted to sell such beverages in the resort and not within the casino premises. Joint elements of IRO and local police seized 121 bottles of liquors worth Rs300, 000 ($2,000).

If found guilty of violating the law, IRO said legal action would be taken against casino operators.

EPL review week 33: Sterling reverts to type as City blow it against United

Week 33 of the English Premier League sees Man City blow a two-goal lead against rivals Man Utd, postponing the title race for at least another week, and it’s as it was in the fight for relegation.

Raheem Sterling has had the season of his life, but he will look back on this game – the tie that could have given City the title – and wonder if someone from United’s backroom had sneaked into the City changing room and stole his shooting boots.

City was imperious in the first half against their neighbours. To say they bossed the action is the understatement of the season. The boys in blue handcuffed those in red, and in particular, a lanky looking man in midfield who had decided to dye his hair blue on this day of all days.

By the time the action entered the 25th minute the United defence was ready to puke. Dizzy. Disorientated. Dumbfounded. The ball came in from a corner, and Vincent Kompany lost Chris Smalling to thunder a bullet header past David De Gea.

Gambler loses Manchester derby bet; winner gets his wife

Friendly bets usually result in someone losing, perhaps, a six-pack of beer or a hundred dollars. Sometimes, the loser ends up washing the winner’s car or mowing his grass. A recent wager between two friends in Tanzania over the Manchester derby Saturday night took things in a completely different direction, with the loser giving up his wife to the winner, according to a Nairobi News report.

The two individuals, Amani Stanley and Tony Shilla, actually went so far as to concrete the wager on a handwritten and signed piece of paper. The agreement has rapidly gained interest on social media, and reads (translated), “I hereby promise to give away my wife for an entire week to my brother Tony Shilla if Manchester City doesn’t win the league title against Manchester United. I’m of sound mind and Ive [sic] not been coerced into this agreement.”

Shilla wrote his version on the same piece of paper, with both signing at the bottom. In the end, Man U took the victory, 3-2, and a defeated Stanley, for reasons unknown, was all too willing to live up to the agreement. There was no word on what his wife thought of the wager.

The Manchester derby is an annual soccer ritual that dates back to 1881. The contest pits Manchester United against Manchester City to see which is the better team. The record is fairly close, with Man U taking 73 victories to Man City’s 53, with 52 drawn matches.

Poker pro busted in airport scam

“Hey, brother, can you spare a dollar?” It sounds like something out of an old Bing Crosby song, adjusted for inflation, of course. However, an on-again/off-again poker pro has been using that line to supposedly scam people out of their money across several different venues.

Michael Borovetz, who has won almost $600,000 in live action and has a WSOPC gold ring to his credit, was recently arrested at Newark Airport after he defrauded an unwitting traveler out of $200. The con artist reportedly approached the 55-year-old New Jersey man with a sad tune of financial hardship, and was given $200. Borovetz had claimed that his flight was canceled and he needed a place to stay for the night.

The victim and the fraudster parted ways, but the traveler started having second thoughts shortly after the scam occurred. He contacted the New Jersey Port Authority and they confirmed that it wasn’t the first time that the 43-year-old poker player had swindled someone out of money. In June 2017, Borovetz ran the same line against a man from San Jose, who fell for his tall tale and gave him some cash.

Fortunately, airports have cameras. Additionally, hotels at airports typically have cameras. Borovetz was tracked to the Newark Airport Marriott, where he was promptly arrested.

MILLIONS World – partypoker react to PokerStars $25k with one of their own

It took a while, but partypoker has reacted to the $25,000 buy-in PokerStars Player’s No-Limit Hold’em Championship by introducing one of their own called MILLIONS World.

I wish I had time to play online poker.

In my short time in the game, I have never seen as much value available online for the people who do.

And the cause?
