Wynn Resorts completes probe on Steve Wynn, but stays mum on findings

After Steve Wynn, then-CEO and founder of Wynn Resorts, was accused of egregious sexual misconduct, the casino operator found itself putting out fires everywhere—Las Vegas, Macau, Massachusetts and even with federal authorities. It agreed to conduct an internal investigation into the “numerous sexual harassment allegations” and has now completed its investigation. However, the company said that it’s not going to disclose—at least for now—the findings of the probe.

The information was presented in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) this week. The company’s new executive VP, Ellen Whittemore stated, “In deference to the ongoing regulatory investigations, the Board and the Company will have no further public statement on the results until the regulatory investigations are completed.”

After the news of the sexual misconduct was first broken by the Wall Street Journal in January, a number of regulatory agencies began to investigate the company and Steve Wynn. That led to the decision by Wynn Resorts to lead its own special investigation.

Since Wynn stepped down from the company in February, casino company has repeatedly attempted to disown the disgraced executive. Wynn, more than likely under pressure, decided to sell his entire stake in the company after he resigned, estimated at around $2.2 billion.

Philippine gov’t lawyers eye Landing international land lease contract review

The Philippine’s Department of Justice will scrutinize the “flawed” casino land lease deal that the government entered with Hong Kong-listed casino operator Landing International Development Ltd (LIDL), the Philippine Star reported.

Philippine Justice Secretary Menardo Guevara has reportedly tapped the country’s Office of the Government Corporate Counsel (OGCC) to conduct a review on the controversial $1.5 billion agreement, including the re-evaluation of other documents related to the project. Guevera’s own legal staff will also conduct its parallel investigation, according to justice secretary.

“I have instructed the OGCC to immediately review all the relevant facts and re-evaluate and examine all contracts, agreements and other documents pertaining to this questioned transaction, including the legal opinions previously rendered by the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel to its client, Nayong Pilipino Foundation Inc.,” Guevarra said in a statement, according to the news outlet.

Meanwhile, state regulator Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) warned that LIDL’s provisional gaming license may be revoked if the land lease deal will be proven anomalous.

New Jersey regulated mobile wagering makes its debut at Browns-Giants game

Sports fans got their first taste of regulated mobile wagering while watching the new-and-improved Cleveland Browns demolished the New York Giants during their NFL preseason debut at MetLife Stadium on Thursday.

The Browns-Giants clash was one for the books for two reasons. First, NFL’s top two overall picks in the 2018 draft, Baker Mayfield and Saquon Barkley, made their league debut on Thursday. Second, the match was also considered to be the first NFL game to provide an opportunity for New Jersey’s regulated mobile sports wagering.

ESPN’s Ben Fawkes described the atmosphere inside the Meadowlands Racetracks, located a stone’s throw away from MetLife, to be festive as punters watched the duration of the Giants-Browns match in one of the six big televisions inside the FanDuel sportsbook at Meadowlands.

Punters are allowed to place their bets before the game, along with a halftime line, according to FanDuel.
