London, September 2015: Gamesman, the international gaming equipment, components and systems manufacturer, part of Esterline Corporation, will be using its presence at G2E to bring its Target 25k fundraising activities ‘Stateside’. Launched at February’s ICE exhibition in London, Target 25k is a Gamesman campaign to raise £25,000 (US$39,000) in order to fund research into Mesothelioma, an aggressive form of lung cancer which the company’s Technical Director James Cove is receiving treatment for. The US fundraising event comprises a Charity Poker Tournament to be held on Sunday September 27th at Green Valley Ranch, starting at 6pm.
Gamesman Sales Manager Martin Rigby explained “Mesothelioma is a form of lung cancer caused by exposure to asbestos and is incurable, and at the age of just 43 it came as a huge shock, not just for James and his immediate family but also for his friends and colleagues, many of whom have known him since Gamesman was formed in 1996.
“Since his diagnosis James has undergone some particularly invasive surgery in his battle against this terrible disease and is currently well, against all the odds, which is wonderful news. However, this does not detract from the fact that this is a life-limiting condition, something that James has to live with every day and does so with typical good humour and positivity.
“In order to try and do something to support James in his fight and help raise both awareness and funds, we launched Target 25 at ICE in February. Our aim is to raise a minimum of £25,000 in the course of one year through various activities in support of two charities that James has chosen, Mesothelioma UK and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
