New pictures from inside the Reading Abbey Ruins as the council celebrates is successful bid for cash to stabilise the ancient structure Councillors and Friends of Reading Abbey were jubilant this week as they celebrated the successful 1.77 million Heritage Lottery Fund bid. The 900-year-old ruins closed to the public because of falling masonry in 2009 and have only been opened for supervised visits ever since.
