Sports Creek Raceway closing after 29 years of horse racing

fter 29 years of horses running through Sports Creek Raceway, the Swartz Creek entertainment facility is shutting its doors.

“It’s time to go another direction and hopefully it will turn out to be on a brighter side,” Locking said.

On Jan. 1, the facility had to close according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board because the raceway lacked a contract with the Michigan Harness Horsemen’s Association.
