Melco Crown in talks with junket operators to boost VIP market in City of Dreams Manila

MELCO Crown Resorts, Inc. is in talks with Suncity Group to bring in high rollers to City of Dreams Manila, according to Belle Corp. officials.

During the Belle Corp. stockholders’meeting, Belle Vice Chairman Willy Ocier told reporters that the City of Dreams Manila is increasing its VIP market and targets to go “full blast” after May.

“Activity at City of Dreams Manila has been in line with expectations,” said Belle CFO  Manuel Gana. “Mass market has been fairly healthy. We didn’t have VIPs yet in the first quarter.”

“Since we opened, it’s a process of Melco signing up junket operators so that’s really what has been happening,” Gana added.

Pennsylvania gets anti-online gambling bill

Pennsylvania State Rep. Thomas Murt filed House Bill 1013 on Monday, with seven co-sponsors, in support of an online gambling ban within the state.

In December 2014, Murt had stated he would be filing the bill reintroducing Rep. Paul Clymer’s HB 1404 from two years ago.

Containing the same language, HB1013 would prohibit the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) from creating rules and regulations that would allow online gambling.

The bill also prohibits any individual or business from taking part in wagers online with a specific prohibition on collecting cash or any currency form, keeping other options such as Bitcoin from being used for online gaming.

Sheldon Adelson Is A Role Model And American Hero

MSNBC’s headline reads “2016 GOPers court pro-Israel donors at Sheldon Adelson’s unofficial primary,” while the Jewish Daily Forward is featuring an op-ed by Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chair of the Democratic National Committee, entitled ” Why GOP’s ‘Sheldon Adelson Primary’ Is Disgrace – and Won’t Lure Jewish Voters.” None of this news coverage will call Sheldon Adelson what he should be called – an American hero and role model.

The Illusion of Confidence

This weekend, my son’s football team played against their local rivals. My son built it up. It was going to be heated. They hated each other. Blood would fly. Unfortunately, it was an anti-climax. They only had nine players and we swept them away 8-1.

There has to be something wrong with the world when we can’t find 11 14-year olds to play football. It became the source of debate on the sidelines. The overriding opinion pointing to the video game industry as the main spoiler. Children don’t go outside to play anymore. They have all the entertainment they need at their fingertips. Virtual football is more appealing than sliding tackles in the dog dirt.

When I was a kid I had no video games. I would go to school, play football at morning break, go back to class, play football at dinner break, go back to class, head home, throw my school bag at my Mum, go out and play football, come in for tea, and then kick a rolled up pair of socks around the hallway with my sister.

I’m a football nut. I don’t play anymore, but when I was a kid I played Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning. I also watch a lot of football. Manchester United is my team. There was a time when nothing would prevent me from watching the mighty reds, or England.  At 40-years of age I would say I am a bit of an expert when it comes to football, but that all changed this past week.

Chelsea Dominate the PFA Player of the Year Awards

Chelsea dominated the Professional Footballers’ Association’s 2014 Player of the Year Awards, with six players named in the Premiership Team of the Year, and Eden Hazard picking up the PFA Player of the Year award.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is not a fan of individual award ceremonies.

“It is a team sport. Why celebrate individual achievement?” He told a Sky Sports presenter after securing a goalless draw at the Emirates. A result that inches them ever closer to their fifth league title.

So when Eden Hazard – a player Mourinho once criticized for not doing enough for his team – walked on stage to collect the Professional Footballers’ Association’s (PFA) Player of the Year award, one suspects the Special One was sat at home watching Game of Thrones with a glass of Chianti in hand.

Las Vegas philanthropist might try to unseat Rep. Joe Heck

At the urging of national Democrats, Las Vegas philanthropist Susie Lee is seriously considering challenging Rep. Joe Heck in one of Congress’ last true swing districts. Democrats believe Lee could be their best shot to unseat Heck next year from Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, which encompasses Las Vegas’ wealthier suburbs and rural Southern Nevada.

Anthony Zinno Wins the WPT Season XIII Player of the Year Race

Three-time World Poker Tour champion, Anthony Zinno, was crowned the World Poker Tour Season XIII Player of the Year, after his rival Darren Elias was eliminated on Day 2 of the World Poker Tour World Championships.

Anthony Zinno will go into the World Series of Poker (WSOP) on a high, after being crowned the World Poker Tour (WPT) Season XIII Player of the Year (POY) at The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Atlantic City.

The three-time WPT Champion entered the WPT Championships with 2,056.15 points, and only Darren Elias, who was sitting second with 1,777.85 points, had the ability to catch him in the final event of the season. Elias made it through to Day 2, but busted early, calling time on the POY race.

It was a fantastic year for both competitors. Elias created a WPT record by cashing eight times, and that included back-to-back WPT Main Event titles, with victory at the WPT Borgata Poker Open in September, and the WPT Caribbean stop in November. He took over a million dollars from the tour this season, and in any other year, his performances would have secured the POY award with ease.
