Scotbet joins founder members William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral and Paddy Power in committing to abide by a code of conduct meant to ensure high industry standards of social responsibility in gambling.
“We’ve always placed a high priority on promoting responsible gambling, so it seemed natural to join Senet as a mark of our commitment to that principle,” said Scotbet Chairman John Heaton. “In keeping with Senet’s rules, we have withdrawn all advertising of gaming machines from shop windows and will be devoting 20% of window advertising to responsible gambling messages.”

NagaCorp – Good Fundamentals, But Beware of Further Macau Drag
As Macau continues its entirely government-induced freefall, the broader Chinese stock market is breaking through highs not seen since 2008. All this while macro data in China comes in bleaker and bleaker, the latest being the HSBC Manufacturing PMI coming in at contraction levels, the lowest in a year and more ominously, the fastest drop in a year. Yet Chinese stocks, except Macau, keep going higher in a sort of twisted loop, as every bad data point adds to the assumption that the People’s Bank of China will print more money if the economy slows down too quickly. Bad news is good news, for now.
At some point soon this will break. And while searching for Macau alternatives is certainly not a bad idea, investors have to be prepared for turmoil in capital markets everywhere when the broader Shanghai index begins to fall. So yes, there are alternatives in Macau’s backyard that are slowly feeding off the artificial government-induced Macau drop, but they too will be affected, at least temporarily, by conditions in the People’s Republic.
Cambodia’s NagaCorp is slowly growing its VIP segment, quite nicely in fact, with fundamentals improving largely due to the Macau situation. But if you’re looking for quick sustained gains, Cambodia is not the best choice. An investment in NagaCorp should only be taken with 2020 in mind, scaled in slowly on down days. Try to get a good price and buy the dips. Don’t go chasing.
While NagaCorp’s numbers are good, certainly stellar compared to Macau’s, the environment is nevertheless not ideal. It has very little to do with Cambodia itself. NagaWorld is actually closed to native Cambodians and open only to foreigners. Strange business model perhaps, but it insulates the casino from fluctuations within the native economy almost entirely. And it’s not even the monetary environment in Cambodia, since NagaCorp’s business is mostly disconnected from the actions of Cambodia’s central bank. Expenditures and income are mostly in US Dollars with a bit of Rubles on the side.

In fact one of the core principles described which came out of West Point Behavioural Sciences division forms the start of our creative brief process and it is the Commanders Intent. Commanders Intent is a plan-talk statement about the point of the mission, so that should any of the expected uncontrolled variables (originally “the enemy”) behave or perform in unexpected ways, the mission is still achievable providing the intent is communicated.

Australian betting operator Tabcorp says its digital channel was among the “dominant drivers” of the company’s fiscal Q3 results.
Tabcorp’s digital channel reported turnover up 16.8% to AUD 815m (US $638m) in the three months ending March 31. For the fiscal year to date, the digital channel is up 20.1%. Totalisator betting easily maintained its dominance over its fixed-odds rival, but tote revenue fell 0.8% to AUD 290.9m while fixed-odds rose 31.9% to AUD 105.8m. TAB Sports revenue was down 1.8% to AUD 44.5m due in part to a stellar performance in the previous Q3. The Trackside animated racing business improved 16% to AUD 23.9m while media operations rose 9% to AUID 43.6m on the strength of its international business.
The Road to Berlin: Champions League Semi Final Review
Lee Davy takes a look at the two Champions League semi finals, as the road to Berlin resumes this week with Juventus hosting Real Madrid and Barcelona hosting Bayern Munich.
The Champions League returns to our TV screens this week, with the semi-final first legs. Juventus will host the reigning champions Real Madrid on Tuesday 5, May, and Barcelona will host Bayern Munich on Wednesday 6, May.
Juventus go into their most challenging fixture of the season on a high. A 1-0 victory over Sampdoria, on the weekend, ensured the Old Lady retained their Serie A title for the fourth consecutive year. They are also unbeaten in 12 European home games, losing only one of 17 since their stadium had a makeover.
It’s no coincidence, that run of four league titles started when Andrea Pirlo made the switch from AC Milan. Their talisman started that title winning game on the bench, but he is expected to start against the European champions. Influential midfielder Paul Pogba continues to be absent through a calf injury.
