Amateur snooker player John Sutton faces six-year ban for match-fixing

Irish amateur snooker player John Sutton has been banned for six years after the sport’s world governing body found him guilty of match-fixing.

The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) said Sutton’s offences are related to suspicious betting patterns on his match against Scotland’s Jamie Burnett in the qualifying stages of the International Championship in Barnsley on September 24th, 2014, which saw Burnett win 6-0.

Sutton was suspended after being charged in February. The case was heard by the WPBSA disciplinary committee in Bristol on March 24th and Sutton was found guilty, with the ruling announced on Wednesday.

The WPBSA alleged that betting by Sutton’s associates from the Terry Rogers Snooker Club in Dublin was disproportionately and suspiciously large and considerably in excess of their previous betting history, indicating that they had knowledge of or belief in the outcome of the match.

Confessions of a Poker Writer: WSOP Diaries – Killer Jacks on the River

Lee Davy turns his confessions series into a World Series of Poker diary. In installment one he describes how shit it feels when you get knocked out of a WSOP event.

I feel shit.

I look down at my watch. It says, ‘Now.’ I don’t want to be in the now. Now feels like Ebola. People are looking at me with puppy dog eyes. I have enough food for 15-levels. I feel homeless. I have nowhere to go, and I don’t know what to do with all of this food.

The journey to the World Series of Poker (WSOP) started on Monday. I took a flight to Los Angeles with my wife. We would spend one night with her family, and then drive a hire car to Vegas – our home for the next six weeks.

Lottery syndicate want winnings frozen

A Tattslotto syndicate that suspects a colleague pocketed a $16.7 million Powerball win may seek to freeze the funds as they await proof of whether the ticket was purchased with their money. The group of 14 Geelong transport workers have taken their concerns to the Victorian Supreme Court, which on Thursday ordered Tattslotto to hand over details of the winner’s identity and details of how he paid for the ticket.

Delaware online poker jumps, casino table games stumble

Delaware’s regulated online gambling market saw poker jump and table games stumble in the month of April.

Overall revenue at the three Delaware Lottery-approved online gambling sites came to $132k, down 10% from March and down 45% from April 2014. This April marked the first full month since the state began sharing online poker liquidity with Nevada and poker revenue was $48.5k, up 11% from March and the best monthly total in a year.

Casino revenue was a mixed bag. Table game win was $15,5k, down 70% from March and the lowest total since the market launched in late 2013. Slots and video poker fared better, rising more than one-third to $68k. Earlier this month, the Delaware Lottery released a mobile app for iOS, so perhaps convenience might boost the allure of those empty roulette and blackjack tables.

The three state racinos – Delaware Park, Dover Downs and Harrington Raceway – whose branded online portals feed customers to the Delaware Lottery’s gambling site have yet to earn a penny from the endeavor. The deal they signed gives the state the first $3.75m of annual revenue but 2014’s total came to only $2.1m.

Sometimes I can look like an utter mug.

It’s the risk you take when you prefer offering an opinion rather than spreading the same old slime over the keyboard.

Take the other week as an example.
