Tiger Not Like to Make US Open Cut

By Frank Scandale @FScandale @TheDailyPayoff

With 14 holes under his belt, Tiger Woods sits at +11 in the second round of the U.S. Open, near the bottom of the pack.

Trailed only by Ricky Fowler when he teed off this morning at Chambers Bay in Oregon, Woods’ quest for a 15th major will have to wait until another event.

As reported earlier, despite his 14 majors, his unparalleled history and the record holder of longest golfer in the World No. 1 spot, Woods’ odds no longer focus on whether he will win, but if he will even make the cut.

Woods was attempting yet another comeback to his old form, this time at the challenging course in Oregon that looks more like a British Open course than a US Open.

As previously reported, going off at 50-1 at Wynn Las Vegas to win the event outright, most of the focus is on whether he can make the cut, says Johnny Avello, director of Race and Sports Operations at Wynn Las Vegas.

“Even money, yes, to make the cut, and -120 to miss it,” Avello said. His reasoning? “First of all, Tiger is struggling with his game. He’s been there (at the course) for a while, maybe even a week, trying to get his game back to respectability.”

His 50-1 to win odds is probably more of a courtesy to how great a player he was. ”

“Back then, you’d be hard pressed to get 5 or 6-1 on him. But he’s not the same Tiger. He’s struggling to even make cuts. All that said, if he gets his game back to respectability and while I am not sure how many wins he will get, he is still Tiger Woods and he draws crowds.”

Avello had Rory McIlroy  as the favorite at 5-1, Jordan Spieth right behind at 7-1, then in the low double digits Phil Mickelson and Justin Rose, followed by a smattering of players at 20-1.

As of this writing, Speith was tied for the lead at -5.

Bovada sports betting also had Woods at even to make the cut and 40-1 to win. http://sports.bovada.lv/sports-betting/golf-pga.jsp They put the Mickelson, Spieth and McIlroy group as the favorites. (As of this writing, Mickelson was -3 and McIlroy -1). Woods missing the cut is the -130 favorite on that bet.

Woods is also offered at +8000 odds to shoot a hole in one at the U.S. Open this week, according to Bovada’s site.

Indonesian football hit with match fixing scandal in 2015 Sea Games

Indonesia national under-23 football team also known as Indonesia Sub-23 or Garuda Muda, was accused of match fixing during its game against Thailand and Vietnam during the 2015 Southeast Asian Games in Singapore this month.

The Jakarta Legal Aid Institution (JLAI) called a press conference on Tuesday to reveal a phone recording that allegedly proved match-fixing claims. The evidence showed came from a whistleblower, who was a part of an underground gambling mafia operating in Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia.

The conversation was recorded on June 14 between the whistleblower and the Malaysian bookie, in which the latter confirmed that the match between Indonesia and Vietnam in the SEA Games was being influenced.

The bookie said that the Indonesia Sub-23 would lose by more than 4 goals, with the match ending 5-0 to Vietnam.

Wynn Resorts on track to clear businesses in Everett’s Charlton Place Center

Wynn Resorts is determined to proceed with its demolition plan despite number of legal and regulatory hurdles on its $1.7-billion project casino resort in Everett, Massachusetts.

Wynn Resorts purchased the Charlton Place Small Business Centerin February, as it blocks a planned road to the main site of the casino property, and gave a total of 27 small companies until the end of June to move out.

A spokesman said that Wynn hasn’t collected any rent from Charlton Place tenants since buying the building and only four remaining have not found new locations.

The casino operator is also negotiating with PlanetTran , a limousine company in the building and the only tenant with a formal lease, to buy out the lease and hopes to demolish the building by the end of the summer.

Becky’s Affiliated: Top 5 Sessions to attend at iGaming Super Show 2015

The iGaming Super Show 2015 is almost upon us – you can just feel the excitement brewing throughout the iGaming industry because everyone loves a nice (all expenses paid) trip to Amsterdam.

Aside from the fact the Super Show takes place within one of the best cities in the world, iGaming Business will be putting on quite an event this year, consisting of the biggest expo floor to date and eight independent conference tracks.  These tracks include the AAC, payments, binary/financial, an executive summit, sportsbetting, player acquisition and more.

One of the greatest challenges we face when attending a show of this size is figuring out how to spend our time because there is so much happening all at once.  My best piece of advice is to walk into the expo with a plan of attack because you won’t simply stumble across that one session you should be attending.

For those of you how want some pointers, after studying the conference agenda myself, I’ve picked out five sessions I would consider “must attends”, keeping in mind the relevance of the topics and the quality of the speakers.  However, I strongly encourage you to check out all the conference sessions as your objectives may be more specific and there is a lot of quality content to choose from.

NBA drops opposition to Canada’s single-game sports betting bill

The National Basketball Association has dropped its opposition to Canada’s bid to legalize single-game sports betting, but it’s a case of too little, too late.

On Monday, the Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) released a statement urging the Senate to pass the C-290 sports betting legislation they have so far declined to pass for the last three years. Parliament breaks for the summer next week and there’s an election in October, so any legislation that doesn’t pass will have to start over from scratch in the House of Commons.

The CGA release included the following “NBA Statement to the Senate of Canada’s Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee, June 2015:”

“Consistent with the NBA’s current position regarding legalizing sports betting in the United States, the NBA is no longer opposed to legalized sports betting in Canada as long as there is an appropriate legislative framework that protects the integrity of the game under strict regulatory requirements and technological safeguards.”

Macau casinos to end proxy betting?

Macau casinos could soon put an end to telephone or ‘proxy’ betting, according to a new analyst report.

Proxy betting occurs when a trusted proxy sits at the casino table, relaying real-time card info to a high-roller located somewhere off the premises, who then decides how much to wager. Hong Kong analysts Sanford C. Bernstein Ltd. issued a report on Tuesday saying they believe proxy betting accounts for around 5% of all VIP turnover in Macau.

But Macau casino operators – particularly those with a US presence – are reportedly growing more nervous that proxy betting violates the ‘know your customer’ principle so beloved by regulators. Sands China put the kibosh on its proxy betting last year, while Wynn Macau initially followed suit then quietly resumed the practice this spring.

The report suggested that MGM China and “potentially” Melco Crown Entertainment could soon ban proxy wagering based on “continued concerns over anti-money laundering compliance.” Should the operators not act unilaterally, the report says Macau’s government “may intervene and force phone betting to stop.”

WSOP Day #21 Round Up: Madsen Wins Bracelet Number 4, Monster Stack Final Table Reached, and Ivan Luca Continues Hot Streak

Lee Davy breaks down the action from the 21st day of the 46th Annual World Series of Poker, including a fourth bracelet win by Jeff Madsen, Ivan Luca on the cusp of his first, and the Monster Stack reaches the final table.

In 2006 Jeff Madsen set the world of poker alight, when he won two World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets, and was crowned the WSOP Player of the Year (POY). He was the youngest person to do so.

Those victories created a career for young Madsen. A bankroll was set, respect had been earned, and he would never have to worry about where the next game would come from. Nine years later and he has picked up his fourth bracelet, a week after reaching his 30th birthday. Only Phil Hellmuth, Stu Ungar and Allen Cunningham reached that number earlier.

Madsen picked up $301,413 after topping a field of 480 entrants in Event #31: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better.

Confessions of a Poker Writer: WSOP Diaries – A Tough Week

Lee Davy continues his World Series of Poker diary with news of a wedding anniversary, advice from two of poker’s finest, and a review of one of the best shows in Vegas.

It’s been a tough week. It should have been golden, and at times it was, but I’m left with a feeling of negative emotion. I don’t like that. It’s draining, leaves me tired, and unenthusiastic.

It was my wedding anniversary this week. I have been married for two years. They haven’t been the easiest of years. I am a man with baggage. I have an ex wife, a teenage son, and I live in the UK. Everyone my wife loves lives in the US.

This can create a lot of stress, and a lot of confusion as to how the future will look. These little stresses, and concerns, are burrowed deep in our relationship. We love each other, and are committed to each other, but from time to time the little things turn into great big things.
