Developer KG Urban drops out of New Bedford casino project
New York-based developer KG Urban Enterprises has abruptly backed out of the competition for Massachusetts’ fourth casino license due to inability to secure financing for the projected $650 million project.
KG Urban Enterprises partner Barry Gosin told Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC), in a letter, that it was officially withdrawing from the casino project in Bedford due to failing to convince investors to finance the $650 million project.
“Given the uncertainty of obtaining viable financing for the project and the time constraints of the license application process, we cannot justify investing any additional funds in the project beyond the significant amount already invested,” Gosin wrote.
KG Urban had long eyed the city as the site of a waterfront casino and agreed to pay $12m annually to city coffers. Last month, New Bedford voters overwhelmingly said yes, we’d like a casino, with more than 70% voting in favor.

Champions of Champions Slot Game Strikes Hard with Exclusive Gala Coral Launch
Gibraltar, 23 July 2015 – Champion of Champions is a high-octane martial arts slot with an arcade combat genre theme. It is the first game collaboration created by AppleJack Gaming, Odobo and Coral Interactive. It offers a five-reel, fixed 20-line mechanic, plenty of action and three bonus features.
The anime-influenced artwork gives the game personality while its vibrant characters and distinctive style complements the strength of the storyline. As with all classic arcade fighting games, the ultimate aim is to defeat the big boss ‘Yoshinobu’, who rules a covert crime syndicate with an iron fist. As the story goes, he draws his power from the spirit energy derived from the will of brave fighters and seeks ultimate world domination. Only four warriors are strong enough to face him and one of them may just become the Champion of Champions.
The game has multiple bonus features to keep players engaged. Striking three ‘Versus’ symbols across a pay-line triggers the ‘Champion’s Bonus’ feature. Control of the warriors then falls to the player in an epic four-stage battle culminating with the fight against Yoshinobu. The ‘Golden Dragon’ bonus feature is triggered at random and ignites the symbols in a sensory explosion that turns them wild and brings home some big wins in the base game. The third bonus feature is a ‘Free Spins’ round, where every spin has wilds on the second-to-fourth reels and can further retrigger.
In addition to the high-impact game play, there are 29 achievements for players to collect. This casual gaming feature encourages return visits and persists between sessions, irrespective of the player’s device.

Gov. Bentley calls Poarch Creekâs $250m offer disingenuous and bogus
Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley described Poarch Creek Indians’ offer to help the state with its budget shortfall as disingenuous and bogus.
The Poarch Band of Creek Indians has invested into an ad campaign urging voters to push their legislators to accept the tribe’s $250m offer to fill the state’s budget deficit. In return, the state would sign a compact that would give the tribe exclusive rights to gambling in the state.
“We have not been offered $250 million by the Poarch Creek Indians. We can’t take money from them because it’s advance money that will be paid on things down the road,” Bentley told AL.com. “I really wish they would be honest with the state of Alabama. What they are saying now is just totally dishonest.”
Bentley also said that although he have the power to deal with the tribe, he and many other Alabamians have a hard time granting exclusive rights to just one business to do anything. Bentley maintains the budget must be solved with a combination of tax increases and reforms, not from gambling dollars.
