Unite Here asks Nevada regulators to investigate Deutsche Bank

UNITE HERE’s Culinary Workers Union Local 226 has called on Nevada gaming regulators to investigate and determine Deutsche Bank’s suitability to be a casino owner following a guilty plea to criminal wire fraud by a subsidiary of the bank, the bank’s admissions of misconduct and its agreements to pay $2.519 billion in penalties to U.S. and British authorities to settle charges of rigging global benchmark interest rates namely the London Interbank Offer Rate .

Partypoker, World Poker Tour and DT38 to Host Charity Event in Aid of Testicular Cancer Awareness

The World Poker Tour plans to kick off their partypoker sponsored WPT National London festival with a specially organized charity event to raise funds for the DT38 charity, set up in honor of the former West Ham footballer Dylan Tombides.

West Ham footballer, Dylan Tombides, had the world at his feet, when at the age of 20 he died of testicular cancer. It was a tragedy no parent should have to endure.

The Dylan Tombides DT38 Charitable Foundation was created in his honor. It’s hoped that the lessons his parents learned throughout their harrowing ordeal, can be used to prevent other tragic deaths of this nature. His parents believe had they known more about this disease in the beginning things could have been managed very differently.

On Wed, Jul 29, partypoker and the World Poker Tour (WPT) will be hosting a special £100 buy-in event, with 38% of the prize pool being donated to DT38. The number 38 is synonymous because it was Tombides shirt number, a number that West Ham have since retired – an honor that has only ever been bestowed to the England World Cup captain Bobby Moore.

Sterling & Schneiderlin Set for Manchester Switch

Raheem Sterling and Morgan Schneiderlin are both heading to Manchester for medicals after their respective clubs agreed to let their stars move to the blue and red half of the city.

It seems the most protracted transfer saga of the summer is nearly done after press reports indicate that Raheem Sterling is scheduled to arrive in Manchester, today, for a medical that will surely cement his £49m move to the blue half of the city.

After having two previous bids rejected by Liverpool, it was a surety that the English transfer record was going to be broken. That record had been held by Andy Carroll after Liverpool agreed to pay the ridiculous sum of £35m to Newcastle back in 2011.

The 20-year old leaves Liverpool after three years in the first team that has seen him make 92 appearances scored 18 goals and made 14 assists. I have to admit, I like watching the lad flying down the wing for England, but those statistics do not demand a fee that big. Sterling signed from QPR as a 15-year old, back in 2010, and the newest member of the Championship will receive 20% of any sale.

Roy Keane Sues Paddy Power Over Braveheart Stunt as Ireland’s Top Job Beckons

Former Manchester United and Ireland star Roy Keane is suing the Irish bookmaker Paddy Power over an image rights issue, as rumors start circulating that he could be in line for the Irish manager’s job if Martin O’Neill switches to Leicester.

Former Manchester United star Roy Keane once said that when he walked onto a pitch it was war. He wasn’t wrong. Some of his matches contained more Ka-Pow’s than an episode of Batman.

He’s at it again.

This time off the pitch.

Mansion, Matchbook and Interwetten firm up football sponsorships

Online gambling operator Mansion Group has inked its second English Premier League sponsorship deal in as many months.

Last week, the Gibraltar-based Mansion announced that it had signed on as official main club sponsor of Crystal Palace FC. Mansion says its logo will adorn the club’s kit, which suggests that the two-year shirt deal the team inked with online payments group Optimal Payments last year came to a premature conclusion.

Mansion CEO Sagi Lahav said his firm looked forward to working with Crystal Palace on “a number of initiatives that will enhance the visibility of both our brands, whilst providing a platform for CPFC fans, and our Mansion casino members, to benefit from the partnership.” The deal follows Mansion’s recent shirt deal with AFC Bournemouth, which only recently won promotion to the EPL.

A little lower down the football pecking order, online exchange betting specialists Matchbook.com have inked a new sponsorship deal with Football League Championship squad Brentford FC. The deal is for one year with an option for a second year, and will see Matchbook’s logo adorn the front of club’s kit, a promotion from the 2014-15 season, when Matchbook’s logo appeared on the back of the shirt.

The provincial government of Quebec will forge ahead with its controversial plan to block unlicensed online poker and gambling sites, despite protests that the move would be impractical and potentially illegal. “We will follow-up on the measures announced in the budget,” said the finance minister’s press attaché, Andrée-Lyne Hallé told CJAD radio this week.
