Ex-croupier sues Crown Resorts for ‘severe’ roulette table injuries
A 55-year-old woman is claiming that her previous job with Crown Resorts has left her unable to work in any capacity, local media reported.
According to the Herald Sun, Jo Taylor is asking for “hundreds of thousands of dollars in compensation” for the injuries she got while working at the roulette table. In her statement of claim, Taylor said she had to work “twisting, reaching and stretching across” a roulette table for long periods of time in 2011, and that she was also told to work even though the table’s chip-sorting machine had already conked out.
This, according to the woman’s claim, caused “undue stress” on her back, resulting in “severe injury with permanent residual disability and impairment.”
Taylor said Crown was negligent in at least 19 areas, which included ignoring her injury and complaints, failing to rotate staff’s work, failing to provide the staff with “ergonomically designed work station,” and failing to maintain its equipment “adequately.”

House stops bill aimed at boosting New Mexico Lottery
A proposal aimed to shore up New Mexico’s struggling lottery scholarship program was halted in the House.
The House Ways and Means Committee voted 5-8 on a “do-pass” motion on Senate Bill 180 Tuesday, which halted the bill’s progress.
The legislation, approved by the Senate on a 29-12 vote last week, would require the New Mexico Lottery Authority to provide $41 million a year for college scholarships. It would also remove the requirement for the lottery to funnel 30% of its monthly revenue to the state college scholarship program to allow the lottery to spend more money on advertising and promotion, draw in more players and offer bigger prizes, said Senate Finance Chair John Arthur Smith, the bill’s sponsor. That, in turn, could lead to an increase in lottery revenue and more money for scholarships.
“What we’re attempting to do is maximize the bottom line to the state for lottery scholarships,” said Smith.

UK National Lottery adds humor in new campaign for online instant-win games
First there were flowers and dinners. Then came the humor.
The UK National Lottery—like a man trying to make a great first date impression—is showing its comic side in order to encourage customers to play its instant-win games online.
The new “No Chance” campaign involves six online short films, targeting not only frequent online lottery players but also those whose online behavior and profiles are similar to people who play Lotto or EuroMillions online.
All six ads shows a person in a “no chance” situation, which was then juxtaposed with the National Lottery’s promise that its players will have a “one in four” chance of winning a prize on the GameStore portfolio. All films finish with the characters either instant win scratch cards or mobile games, and a “click-to-play” call-to-action, which takes customers to the National Lottery’s GameStore website.

Confused MPs vow to submit views on Cyprus casino legislation despite getting ‘ambiguous’ translations
Members of the Cyprus Parliament are not letting a poorly translated copy of regulations get in their way of reviewing the legislative proposal that could bring the first casino to the country.
Local media outlets reported that parties pledged on Tuesday that “they will submit specific opinions and suggestions at the next parliamentary committee session” next week. The MPs expect the issue to be finished by March.
In July 2015, the Cypriot parliament voted 29-22 in favor of the long-delayed casino legislation, which would see a casino to be built on the Greek-controlled southern half of the island. Now, the lawmakers are busy going over the casino regulations, such as the “individual functions of a supervisory authority and control of the authority by the auditor-general.”
The MPs, however, were stumped by the proposal that had failed to clearly translate the adopted chapters—majority from gambling bills in other countries—into Greek. House Commerce Committee Chairman Zacharias Zachariou told local media outlets that there were ambiguities in the translated text.
