GAN inks tenth social casino deal with mystery brick-and-mortar casino partner

Online gambling technology provider GAN has inked a multi-year social casino deal with a new brick-and-mortar casino partner, but it’s not saying who.

On Tuesday, GAN (formerly known as GameAcccount Network) announced that it had inked the tenth US client for its online free-play Simulated Gaming product. Trouble is, the parties are still waiting for local regulators to sign off on the deal, and until they do, GAN isn’t sharing the name of its new dance partner.

GAN did offer a few clues, saying the client operates a “major established casino property generating in excess of $500m in gross gaming revenues annually.” The deal will reportedly continue GAN’s strategy of ensuring “continuing access to the lucrative North Eastern regional social casino gaming market.”

The client is also “situated in a new US state,” which we assume means a state in which GAN has yet to ink a social casino deal, rather than a parcel of upstate New York that will be rechristened Trumpylvania come November.

Dutch Tennis Coach Arrested in Connection to Murder Charge Lost $60,000 Playing on PokerStars

A Dutch tennis coach arrested in connection with the murder of businessman Koen Everink allegedly owed the deceased €80,000 in gambling debts including $60,000 playing low limit cash games on PokerStars.

Ever since businessman Koen Everink, 42, was found stabbed to death at his home in Bilthoven, Netherlands, by his daughter, the finger has been loosely pointing in the direction of the 29-year old Dutch tennis coach Mark de Jong.

De Jong was one of the first people to be questioned in connection with the case as he was one of the last people to see Everink alive. De Jong told the police that both he and Everink were watching a Dutch Premier League match between Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar at the victim’s home when he saw suspicious characters up to no good outside.

De Jong then flew to Miami where he accompanied his player Robin Haase at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event the Miami Open. Haase, who is ranked #58 by the ATP World Tour, had to pull out of the event through injury. Officials arrested De Jong when he flew back to Schiphol Airport. De Jong has been working with Haase since 2014.

Terrence Chan Wins His Very Own Thrilla in Manila

Terrence Chan continues his Mixed Martial Arts winning ways after a first round submission win against the diminutive Joco Mabute in Manila.

De La Soul once sang that ‘three was the magic number.’

For now, that number is six for Terrence Chan.

Chan has reached six World Series of Poker (WSOP) final tables. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to force any of his opponents to submit so he could take home a sliver of gold.

Russia bookies panic as government proposes 100x rise in online betting duty

Russia’s bookmakers have learned to their horror that taking their action online will cost them 100x more than they’d previously been paying.

On Tuesday, Russian gambling media sources revealed that the Ministry of Finance had okayed amendments to the tax code, under which Russian-licensed online bookmakers will pay a minimum monthly tax of RUB 2.5m to 3m (US $36,600 to $43,900) effective Jan. 1, 2017. Bookies with land-based operations will continue to pay a monthly fee of between RUB 5k and 7k per month for each retail point of sale.

The new tax will reportedly apply for each region in which an online bookmaker does business. For the record, Russia has 12 economic regions, meaning bookies will likely be making some hard choices as to whether it’s economically feasible to maintain a regional presence.

The previous monthly minimum per region had been as low as RUB 25k ($366), making the new rate up to 100x higher. The news came as a shock to Russian bookies, who had previously expressed their dismay at last month’s reports that the government was planning a mere tenfold increase in gambling taxes.

Martin Jacobson Revealing All on PokerVIP

2014 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Martin Jacobson reveals all on an Ask Me Anything on PokerVIP including his use of performance enhancing substances, how much he took from that $10m paycheck, and much more.

The 2014 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion, Martin Jacobson, has appeared on an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on PokerVIP.com. The Swedish star has been popping in and out of the site for a 72hr period that ends 23:59 March 30 (GMT).

The last time I checked in on an AMA, it was to learn more about Antonio Esfandiari on Reddit. Unfortunately, the former One Drop winner misunderstood the concept and didn’t realise that he had to answer the questions people were posting.

Jacobson is doing a much better job. I’m not sure if it will be all over by the time you read this, but you will never get a better chance to ask the usually shy and retired Swede some questions.

Casino Mogul Wynn's Ex-Wife Files Bid for Control of Stock

A battle of billionaires is brewing on the Las Vegas Strip, with casino mogul Steve Wynn’s ex-wife alleging boardroom recklessness as she asks a court to give her control of company stock that she left in his hands five years ago. Elaine Wynn filed court documents Monday seeking access to more than $900 million worth of stock and providing an inside glimpse at her ex-husband’s dealings with Kazuo Okada, a former business partner with whom Wynn Resorts Ltd. has waged a legal battle since 2012.
