How To Bet The 2016 Kentucky Derby

The 142nd renewal of the Kentucky Derby will run on May 7th and even if you’re not the biggest fan of horse racing, you’ll be interested in what happens because most people reading this website are gamblers. Any opportunity to win money is going to draw intrigue. Few are as fun, or as thrilling, as the Kentucky Derby.

Next week I’m going to give a thorough breakdown of the best ways to bet the Kentucky Derby but for now I’m going to give you a crash course. This is everything you need to know about betting on horses and the main threats in the Kentucky Derby field.

Betting on Horses 101

The absolute best part about betting on horses, if you didn’t know already, is that you don’t necessarily have to bet on the straight up winner. That tends to pay the most, but you can also safely hedge your bets by betting on horses to finish in the top-2 or the top-3.

Poker player strikes lucky in Leicester Square Triggering a Huge Jackpot Win of Over £82k

A holiday maker from Canada has triggered a huge jackpot win of over £82k. Eyad Daoud scooped a massive £41,310.25 whilst playing the Bad Beat Poker Jackpot at Empire Casino in Leicester Square.  Eyad hit the jackpot on 15th April, whilst on a two-week holiday with his family from Canada.

He says, “I enjoy a game of poker, especially when I am travelling to other countries, I like to experience the buzz and atmosphere of the gaming floor. On Friday I visited the casino to play and luck was on my side! I knew I had won on the table but it was only when I heard the clapping and cheering that I realised I had actually won the Bad Beat Jackpot – I was thrilled! I will certainly be returning to the casino on my next visit to London”

Peter Turpin, Venue Director at Empire Casino, in Leicester Square says “The Bad Beat jackpot has created a lot of buzz in our Poker Room over the last few weeks. In a game where you can buy in for as little as £50 this is an exceptional win. The blinds were just £1/2 so even a novice would be able to play at this level. We’ve all been waiting with great anticipation for someone to strike it lucky. We love the excitement of a big win”

This was Eyad’s first ever time in the casino, which had been recommended to him by friends as the place to go in London for the ultimate buzz and personalized service.

Hillsborough Inquest: 96 Victims Were “Unlawfully Killed”

27-years after 96 football fans lost their lives during the FA Cup Semi Final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough Stadium, a jury has concluded they were ‘unlawfully killed.’

On the 15 April 1989, 96 men, women, and children aged between 10-67 said goodbye to loved ones before heading to Hillsborough to watch Liverpool play Nottingham Forest in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

They never came home.

54,000 were there the day that hundreds of people were crushed in the carnage of Leppings Lane. There lives were changed forever. As was every football fan in the UK. I remember watching the disaster unfurl on TV. At first I thought it was hooliganism. Then I saw the bodies. Advertising boards were used as stretchers for the dead and the dying.
