Las Vegas Sands Q1 profit plunges 37.5%, Adelson sticks to his ‘stabilization’ story

Casino operator Las Vegas Sands took a tumble in its Q1 earnings report, dragged down by Macau’s inability to reverse its 22-month long decline.

For the three months ending March 31, Sands’ revenue fell 9.2% to $2.72b, while earnings were off 12.7% to $917.6m and net income plunged 37.5% to $320.2m. The decline was pinned on general Macau sluggishness, VIPs getting lucky in Singapore and $35.8m in unfavorable currency fluctuations.

Sands China remains firmly stuck in reverse gear, with revenue down 7.9% to $1.63b, earnings down 2.5% to $518m and profit falling 9.6% to $311.6m.

In keeping with market trends, VIP turnover was down across the board at all four Macau properties, although the Venetian Macao’s VIP turnover was down only 3.4%, far better than the double-digit declines at the other three properties, led by Sands Cotai Central’s near 41% turnover decline.

Sammy Watkins, NFL Star, Ditches Voluntary Workouts in Favor of Poker

Premier League Review Week 35 (Part 1): Newcastle Have Hope

In this week’s Premier League review Newcastle fans retain hope after another battling display this time against Man City; Man Utd take advantage of their neighbours slip up with victory at home to Palace, and Liverpool stomp all over Everton.

Newcastle fans are starting to believe the unbelievable after their players put in a second sterling performance on the spin with a battling 1-1 draw against an under par Man City side.

Newcastle came into this tie on the back of their first win under Rafa Benitez knowing a victory would see them emerge from the doldrums of the bottom three for the first time since December.

But let’s have a reality check here. Man City came into the game on a run of five unbeaten in all competitions since the return from injury of Kevin De Bruyne, and Newcastle have lost all of their previous 12 clashes against City, and six of their last eight against everyone they have faced.

The Future of Betting Shops

Tuesday 26th April 2016, 4pm-6pm, Dining Room A, Palace of Westminster

London, England, April, 2016– The Officers of the Parliamentary All Party Betting & Gaming Group have been enormously gratified by the success of their first seminar, The Future of Online Gambling and are now looking forward to the highly anticipated next seminar, The Future of Betting Shops, to be held on Tuesday 26th April 2016. The speakers will be Malcolm George, CEO, Association of British Bookmakers (ABB), Andrew Lyman, Director of Group Regulatory Affairs, William Hill and John Heaton, Chairman, Scotbet. Steve Donoughue, gambling consultant and Secretariat of the All Party Betting & Gaming Group said:

British betting shops have recently had a very rough time politically. While some of the mud-slinging has been arguably warranted, much of it has been unfair and in some cases down right un-truthful. I am that certain that all Parliamentarians are only interested in the facts and are willing to come and listen and debate the evidence. We hope that our seminar can provide a platform for the industry to explain what they are up to now and what they see is the future for the cornerstone of the British gambling industry, the betting shop.

For the first time the Parliamentary All Party Betting & Gaming Group is allowing the invited guests from the industry to attend its meetings and join with the Captains of their industry in the debating what the future of gambling in Britain is. If you wish to attend one of the seminars please contact the Secretariat of the APBGG, Steve Donoughue at sdonoughue@gamblingconsultant.co.uk. Patrick Leonard is the New PartyPoker Ambassador

Patrick Leonard has joined partypoker as an ambassador immediately vowing to do everything he can to try and help them become the best poker site in the world.

If there was ever a time for an online poker site to seek to overtake PokerStars as the market leader, that time is now. A fact not lost upon Patrick Leonard, who recently signed as an ambassador for partypoker in a bid to try and help them become the world’s top online poker room.

It’s an alliance that has come out of the blue. Two-time World Poker Tour (WPT) champion, Marvin Rettenmaier, left the partypoker stable at the back end of 2014, and Kara Scott left a few months after, leaving nothing but sawdust and sand.

In Nov 2015, partypoker announced a partnership with, Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch, and revamped their entire tournament themes to align with the art of the World Champion pugilist. It seemed as if the focus would be more on celebrity than poker professionals moving into their latest reincarnation.
