Coinroll Bitcoin online casino database leak linked to customer account thefts

Bitcoin online casino Coinroll has warned its customers that their account data may have been compromised.

Late last month, Chris Vickery, a researcher at online security firm MacKeeper, reported discovering an online database containing information from 4,610 Coinroll.com accounts. Softpedia reported that the Coinroll account info was linked to 9.668 Bitcoin wallets.

Vickery reported that the Coinroll database had employed a strong SHA256 cryptographic algorithm to hash the account password strings but the database wasn’t salted with random info, which would have made the passwords nearly impervious to prying eyes. The database also lacked an administrative password, allowing any interested party to download the information.

Last week, Coinroll posted a message to its site alerting customers to the potential breach after receiving reports that some users’ account balances had been stolen. Coinroll insisted that there were only a “few claims” of unauthorized withdrawals but advised all players who’d opened accounts prior to April 7 to change their account passwords.

Goa chief: Offshore casino ‘mess’ is Congress’ baby

Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar doesn’t like taking care of other politician’s “children.”

Parsekar recently called out the Congress, which he said has made a “mess” of the offshore casinos situation in Goa, forcing him to deal with the issue himself.

When prodded about why the Goa government was not ordering the offshore casinos out of the Mandovi River, the chief minister said taking care of that issue is like taking care of someone else’s “children.”

“Someone had said I was compelled to marry a pregnant woman. What to do? So, naturally, I am forced to take care of her children,” Parsekar was quoted by CNBC’s Money Control saying.

Chile to begin accepting technical bids for casinos

The Superintendence of Casinos (SCJ) is set to hold a public hearing for operators who want a permit to open a casino in Chile.

The Superintendent and his technical team will accept bids starting April 20 at 11 a.m., for potential casinos in the areas of Arica, Iquique, Coquimbo, Vina del Mar, Pucon, Puerto Varas and Natales.

Casino operators who will apply for a permit must pass the final basis before they can start the approval process, according to the SCJ.

“Under this new legal framework, areas of discretion when deliver permits are reduced, so we hope to achieve [an] objective, transparent process and ensure greater revenue collection for the Treasury, regions and communities,” said Superintendent of Casinos Daniel Garcia in a statement.
