NBA Playoffs: The Battle for a Step towards Semifinals

The NBA Conference semifinals picture is settling with expected teams Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City, and Cleveland Cavaliers taking its respective slots, no sweat!

The Atlanta Hawks – Boston Celtics first-round series has been one of the most exciting matchups in the NBA postseason so far.

The Hawks suffocated Celtics with great defense and win two games apiece, taking a 2-0 series lead but Celtics made a stunning turnaround  as it got a win in the series, defeating the Atlanta Hawks, 111-103. Thanks to Isaiah Thomas who scored a career-high 42 points. Celts down Hawks again in an overtime and tie the series at 2 in Game 4.

After losing two straight on the road, Hawks moved ahead 3-2 with a 110-83 rout on Tuesday. Although home court has been massive in this series, as no road team has won yet through five games, the visiting Hawks closed out Boston in Game 6, 104-92.

With over 10 years in the iGaming industry I would forgive you in thinking that with the ever changing legal landscape, increased operational complexity and constant market consolidations that it would be harder then ever, or even too late to get involved. In reality the industry has matured in many aspects, and this can work in your favour.

The biggest challenge you will face however, is how to deliver a casino site that is competitive in todays standards.

Europa League Review: Sevilla On Course For Third Title

Sevilla is on course to win their third consecutive European title after snatching a 2-2 draw in their first leg against Shakhtar Donetsk thanks to a late penalty; Villarreal scores with the last kick of the game to overcome Liverpool in the other semi-final.

Not since the mighty Bayern Munich beat Atletico Madrid, Leeds United, and Saint-Etienne, in the early 1970s has a team won three European trophies on the spin.

That might be about to change after Sevilla came from behind to snatch a 2-2 draw in their first leg of the Europa League Semi-Final away to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Machin Perez put the visitors ahead in the sixth minute, but Donetsk came back fighting. A 23rd-minute equaliser from Marlos and a 35th-minute header from Taras Stepanenko sent them into the break with a two-goal lead. The tie seemed to be going the way of the Ukrainian Premier League team until in the 82nd minute when Facundo Ferreyra brought Vitolo down in the box, and Kevin Gameiro stepped up to equalise from the spot.

Hillsborough Families to Sue Police For £20m

Close to 400 members of the 96 men, women, and children, who lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster are pursuing an estimated £20m in damages after the verdict of ‘unlawful killing’ was reached earlier this week.

27-years ago – 96 men, women, and children, lost their lives in the Leppings Lane stand in Hillsborough. A few days ago, in what became the longest jury led case in British legal history, a verdict of ‘unlawful killing‘ was delivered.

The families of the dead broke down in tears of joy and sadness. Arm in arm, hand in hand, they stood outside the courts and sang You Will Never Walk Alone. They had finally won. The nightmare was all over, or was it?

The verdict redirected the finger. It’s now pointing directly at the South Yorkshire Police (SYP). The Criminal Prosecution Services (CPS) is still considering criminal proceedings against those responsible. One man who won’t have slept a wink since the verdict is David Duckenfield. He was the man in charge of the policing at the game, and the jury found him in breach of his care of duty to the victims. He has since gone to ground.

UK health director claims betting shops are behind Britain’s obesity epidemic

Betting shops are the real source of the UK’s obesity epidemic, according to a health official.

It’s no secret that the UK has a lot of fat bastards – a 2014 World Health Organization study found 28% of UK adults are obese and 62% are either obese or overweight. Rachel Flowers, a director of public health in Croydon, south London, claims to have identified the root cause of this epidemic: the nation’s 9,000+ high street betting shops.

As for how Flowers identified the irrefutable flutter-fatty link, the Blackpool Gazette quoted her saying bookmakers “bleed the money out of people’s pockets,” leaving them with “less money and time to prepare good food.”

Pretty rigorous scientific methods at play there in identifying the smoking kebab, one has to admit. Sort of like those tabloid headlines detailing the billions of pounds the residents in each UK city ‘spend’ playing fixed-odds betting terminals (FOBT), which, given the machines’ 97% payout rate, is exponentially higher than the money punters actually lose to the machines. But you know, math.
