Treasure Island to Launch Online Poker Room; Living it Loving it to Transform The Live Poker Room Into a European Hotspot

Treasure Island Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas is preparing for the World Series of Poker both online and live after announcing plans to launch a subscription online poker product, and Living It Loving It transform their live poker room into something special.

In March 2013, Treasure Island became the 21st gambling entity to be handed an online gaming licence to operate in the state of Nevada. Back then all of the talks was of an 888Poker powered online poker platform running in conjunction with Blake Sartini’s Golden Gaming. Things have changed somewhat.

Treasure Island are gearing up for the influx of players flocking to the World Series of Poker (WSOP) by launching their online poker product. 888Poker will be providing the muscle. Instead, the honour will be bestowed upon the Australian gaming company, Strategic Entertainment Pty Ltd.

Strategic Entertainment Pty Ltd is a leader in gaming solutions for B2B clients and land-based operators worldwide. Products include a multi-level tournament model known as the International Poker Open, a new form of poker known as Ozzie Poker, and a subscription model known as DownUnder Poker.

“First time in a long time” that all Swedish gaming operators report growth

All Swedisn-licensed gambling operators reported growth in the first quarter of 2016, “the first time in a long time” that feat has been accomplished.

According to new stats released by Swedish gaming agency Lotteriinspektionen, the overall gambling market’s turnover rose 5% to SEK 5.4b (US $651m) in the three months ending March 31. State-licensed operators reported turnover up 6% to SEK 4.2b, while those rogue international operators severing Swedish punters without a Swedish license improved 5% to SEK 1.1b.

Lotteriinspektionen noted that the country’s regulated market had been on a largely uninterrupted downturn over the past few years until showing signs of life late in 2015. The agency notes with some bitterness that the upturn in locally licensed operators’ fortunes has not been accompanied by a corresponding downturn in international operators, but c’est la guerre.

The state-owned (but not for much longer) betting monopoly Svenska Spel reported total turnover up 4% to SEK 2.3b, with land-based operations up 4% to SEK 1.8b while online operations reported much healthier growth, rising 16% to SEK 488m.

GVC Holdings inks 10-year technology platform deal with UK bookies Betfred

UK-listed online gambling firm GVC Holdings has inked a 10-year technology platform deal with privately-held UK betting firm Betfred.

On Monday, GVC announced a “transformational” B2B agreement that will see Betfred migrate its online sportsbook and gaming operations to the GVC platform. The deal includes access to GVC’s backend data, allowing Betfred greater insights into how to market to individual customers.

By signing with GVC, Betfred is bidding farewell to its current platform provider GTECH. Betfred CEO John Haddock said an “extensive review” of the marketplace had convinced his company that GVC’s platform offered the “scalability and flexible approach” needed to ensure continued growth of Betfred’s online operations.

GVC CEO Kenneth Alexander celebrated the “exciting and important” B2B tie-up with “one of the major players in the UK gaming market” so soon after GVC’s completion in February of its Bwin.party acquisition. Betfred joins Czech operator Fortuna and Denmark’s Danske Spil on GVC’s B2B partner list.
