Betclic returns to Belgium gambling market via B+ license

French gambling operator Betclic Everest Group has re-entered Belgium’s online gambling market after spending several years in the country’s blacklist.

SBC News reported last week that Belgium’s Gambling Commission (BGC) finally gave Betclic Everest the approval to offer licensed online sports betting and slot services under its betclic.be domain.

Betclic, via its joint venture with Belgian land-based arcade operator Pres Carats Sports SA, received a B+ license, which according to the BGC website, is a supplementary license that operators need “to offer games of chance online.”

Current online betting laws require digital companies operating in Belgium to partner with a domestic brick-and-mortar business.

Why is eSports the future of betting?

Quite simply, eSports is the future of sports.

I read somewhere the other day that it won’t be until the current strata of old doctors die out that our attitudes towards the health benefits of a whole foods diet will be fully realised and explored.

Fantasy sports app Ballr moves away from gambling image

Fantasy sports firm Ballr is expanding its reach to millions of daily fantasy sports fan in Asia, starting with the launch of its operations in India, local news media reported.

But unlike its market competitors, Sam Jones, founder and chief executive officer of Ballr, wanted the company to track a different road as it tries to distance itself from gambling.

“It’s not cool for a brand to be close to a gambling brand. We are going down fan engagement; if we succeed in getting 50 million people to play our games, to connect with their friends through this special moment of time when they are watching live sport,” Jones told website Live Mint.

Jones was in India last week to launch mobile fantasy sports application Ballr and to expand their reach to millions of daily fantasy sports fans in Asia. After India, Ballr planned to conquer China, where there was an estimated 281 million adult sports fans, before testing the Thai and Vietnamese markets.

India’s Adda52 and Rockets part poker rooms

Despite their successful, one-year partnership, India’s largest poker site Adda52 and Rockets Poker Room in Bangalore have called it quits.

Indian poker news website Gutshot Magazine reported that the two Indian poker sites have decided not to renew their partnership a year after launching Adda5 LIVE tournament.

The possible reason behind the non-renewal of the partnership between Adda52 – which came as a surprise to poker fans – was the departure of Praveen Dwarkanath, one of the two operating partners in Rockets.

“The association was for a year and we enjoyed the experience. We would like the new management of Rockets poker room to settle down and then explore any synergies later,” Anuj Gupta, Founder and CEO of Adda52, said in a statement.

Merged Ladbrokes/Coral would become third biggest UK sports gambling site online

23 May 2016: The combined online traffic of Ladbrokes and Coral would make the new entity the third most visited UK sports gambling site in the UK, digital market intelligence firm SimilarWeb has revealed.

Ladbrokes, now the fourth most popular UK site for monthly combined mobile and desktop visits in 2015 would gain the online traffic of sixth-placed Coral in a merger.

Combining the joint combined mobile and desktop traffic would put Ladbrokes-Coral on 22 million average monthly online visits, based on last year’s traffic figures. This would see them overtake Skybet in third-place.

However on current figures, the merger would not be enough to unseat industry leader Bet365, which achieved an average of 38 million visits a month in 2015, or second-placed William Hill on 23.2 monthly visits to its site each month.
